Just seven days until Christmas. If you have last minute presents to buy and want to avoid the High Street queues then pop into the Pro Shop for lots of stocking filler ideas and no hassle. And if you're stuck for ideas or short of time we can even email gift vouchers to you for either the shop or for coaching. Click here if you would like more info.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the Captain's Drive In at 12.45 on Sunday. And don't forget it will be your last chance to purchase tickets for the Pro's Xmas Draw for a chance to win from the prizes worth over £2,000. The draw will take place after the Xmas Lunch on Sunday.
Swing Studio Coaching News
Heather Thwaites has been enjoying a Game Improvement Programme for a while and in Saturday's coaching session we were really focussing on improving her downswing. As you can see in the right hand picture her legs are too static and the left arm has bent causing a casting of the club. In the left hand picture her legs are unwinding her body into the left heel and the arms are swinging down creating much more leverage and power. The end result - much more consistent and powerful ball striking and 40 points in the weekend Stableford.

Swing Studio Fitting News
Last week John Todd came in for an iron fitting. Having tried the range from Mizuno, Titleist & TaylorMade the New AP1 716 with the lighter weight True Temper XP90 shaft came out the best. With better launch angle & spin rate John's average distance with the AP1 7 iron was better than his old PING G5 6 iron. If you would like a fitting for new equipment or a gapping session to know the yardages you hit your current set click here to make a booking. Happy Xmas & I hope you all enjoy your golf in 2016. Greg.
Well done to Rowan Gillespie who won the Christmas Stableford with 39 points playing with his new Mizuno MP4 custom fitted irons!! Ben Wilkinson was second with 38 points and Mark Randall narrowly pipping Kevin Young to third on countback also with 38 points.
However, as always, the biggest roar of the day at the prizegiving was saved for Ben Fraser who became the new 'Malibu King' with 18 points claiming a shoulder injury in his acceptance speech!!!!
Then on Sunday we had a very busy day as 107 members and guests attended the family Xmas Lunch. Excitement reached fever pitch as Father Christmas was spotted arriving up the 18th on his specially decorated buggy with his assistant Frosty the Snowwoman. A great time was had by all and congratulations to Brenden and his team on their fantastic fare.
On Friday we had our first Pro and Assistant Pro Fourball Challenge Match against Andrew and Ben Whalley. We had a fantastic match with the challengers coming back from 4 down with 5 to play to one down with 2 to play. I birdied the 17th for a half and then Ashley chipped in for a birdie at the last for the pros to sneak a win, one up, having shot a gross 63 betterball with 9 birdies between us. If you would like to challenge us, the pros' match fee is £25 each but you don't pay if you beat us!!!!! And remember with new fourball handicapping rules you receive 90% of your handicap in shots - Are the big guns ready to challenge us ??? Click here.
The winners of the Christmas Cracker last Wednesday were Janet James and Barbara Pike with 38 points. They pipped Sian Thomas and Anne Trew on countback with Barbara Brooks and Marjory Horsman third with 32 points.
Congratulations to Kathryn McKimmie who won the weekend Stableford with 40 points (playing with her new custom fitted TaylorMade irons) and narrowly pipped Heather Thwaites on countback (see coaching news above!) in third place was Jan Gilkes with 35 points.
