Custom Fitting in The Swing Studio
Andrew Straszewski, who is having a Game Improvement Programme with Greg, picked up his new TaylorMade M1 fairway wood on Friday to match the M1 driver I had already fitted for him a couple of months ago and went straight out and won the weekday Stableford by four clear points with 40 points. If you'd like instant improvements to your game click here to discuss how we can help you with your game and play better golf in 2016!
Last week Rod Curry came for an iron fitting with Greg. Starting with the DNA system from Mizuno to establish an average swing speed & how the shaft is loaded throughout the swing we then looked through all the suitable irons & shafts from Mizuno, Titleist & TaylorMade. With a very similar swing speed, spin rate & smash factor, the Titleist AP1 7 iron went 8 yards further than the TaylorMade RSi 1 7 iron and the same distance as the Mizuno 6 irons that were tested. Look out for Rod wielding his new Tiltleist irons soon!
Here is a picture of Julien Payne with his new TaylorMade M1 driver - 42 points in the comp in his first outing with it last weekend!!!!

Coaching in The Swing Studio
This is the perfect time of year to improve your game in readiness for the new season - it's only 6 weeks until March and 10 weeks until the Masters!!! Have you decided what your goals are for your golf in 2016???
Don't forget I am coaching from 4pm to 8pm in The Swing Studio every Wednesday evening if you would like to fit in some lessons after work. Greg is also doing the same on a Monday evening.
I would love the opportunity to play a friendly fourball with as many new members of the club as possible and indeed any member with whom I have never played. If you would like to join me on any of the following dates please click here.

In my role as Chairman of The Surrey Professional Golfers' Association, I am running The Surrey PGA Annual Awards Dinner at Brooklands Museum preceded by a Pro-Am golf tournament at Hankley Common, Hindhead and Farnham Golf Clubs concurrently on Tuesday, 23 February. The golf will be a 12pm shotgun start with the dinner with a guest speaker at approx 7:30pm. This day is vital to the Surrey PGA as it raises funds to enable us to host a Surrey PGA Assistants and Trainees Championship amongst other things. The cost is £110pp for the Pro-Am and the dinner or £65pp for the dinner only and you can enter either individually or in teams of three. If there is a professional you would particularly like to play with you can request him otherwise we will allocate you one. I would love as many West Hill members to come and support and enjoy this day as possible. Please click here if you are interested.
Congratulations to Andrew Straszewski ( see Swing Studio News above ) who won the weekday Stableford with 40 points on Friday. Second in Division 2 was Alex Forbes with 37 points who is obviously mastering his new " non anchored" putting stroke in accordance with the new rules of golf following some discussion with me in the pro shop! Third with 35 points was a welcome return for Peter Depledge. Division 1 was very tight with Terry Atkinson pipping John Watts and Howard Ashton with all three scoring 36 points.
Following last week's postponement of the traditional inaugural Captain Pro Challenge against the two immediate past captains, Messrs Smith and Harrison, we will now start our campaign tomorrow, following a steak and claret lunch, against Rod Curry and Tim Evans. Look out for reports next week - remember the pair who beat us by the biggest winning margin this year win two days golf at Saunton Sands plus overnight accommodation courtesy of The Captain.
Well done to Anne Abrahamsen & Karen Duncan who won the two ball Betterball with 44 points on Wednesday. Second were Lynne Daniel & Marjory Horsman with 43 points and third Janet Lea & Liz Hooper with 41 points on countback.
Huge congratulations also to new junior member, Rio Mercer, who will be joining Will Hewett and Joe Gould (as reported last week) in the Surrey County Academy program for 2016. This is funded through Sport England through the England Golf Partnership National Training initiative.
