Swing Studio Fitting News

Last week we made a very exciting announcement that, as a TaylorMade Tuned Performance Centre, we have the exclusivity of the new M2 woods and irons, before their world wide release on 19th February.

We have an Exclusive TaylorMade M Family launch weekend this weekend. We are also offering free club trials and fittings in the Swing Studio worth £50 for the month of February so if you would like to have a no obligation try of any of the latest woods or iron technology, measured by our Flightscope Launch Monitor, click here and find out if your own clubs are helping you to perform to your maximum potential.

Swing Studio Coaching News

Julian Thomas has been developing his game with
me for a while. As you can see from the picture above his backswing has been getting more neutral so he is playing with less and less draw and striking more consistently - the result was a gross 73 on Sunday and 39 points getting cut from 7 back down to 5.7. Well done Julian and keep at it - 5 handicap next!!!!!

to 8.30pm on the simulator on a Wednesday evening and Greg does similar on a Monday evening).

Ashley's Technology Corner- M2 Irons

Following last week's article on the New TaylorMade M2 Drivers, a new addition to the 'M' Family has arrived. These irons aren't replacing the existing PSi or RSi Models, they are simply joining the team. Another club which can offer stronger lofts without compromising height. Three models of this club are available including the Tour head, Players head and Ladies head.

"Distance will get you to the green - but distance and height - will help you stay there. This is the key concept behind M2 Irons"

Thick-Thin Fluted Hosel- Removes 3 grams of extra mass trapped in the hosel. That weight is then distributed as low as possible throughout the head to lower the CG and promote higher launch and more ball speed.

360° Undercut- Expands the unsupported face area for more ball speed. It also removes weight from the top-line to create ultra-low CG. This allows for stronger lofts that maximize distance without sacrificing the high peak trajectory that results in long, playable shots from each iron.

Speed Pocket- Increased flexibility due to an even thinner sole increases launch angle and preserves ball speed, improving forgiveness for shots struck below the centre of the face.

3D Sound & Feel System- A light but extremely stiff 3D-badge system that manages sound and eliminates unwanted vibrations for superior feel, giving golfers a pure feeling distance iron.

We've got them in store at West Hill now so come along today and sign up for our TaylorMade M2 Fitting Weekend on the 6th and 7th of February. Click here to book your own session with Greg today!

Last Saturday afternoon I played a friendly fourball with new members Mark Palmer and Stephen Lewis as well as Brian Raven. We played automatic presses at 2 holes which, for the uninitiated, means that every time the match swings by 2 holes then a new match starts on the next tee for the remainder of the round. We stood on our final tee, the par 3 ninth, with us 1 down, 1 up, 1 down, 1 up and 1 down in the five matches which were all still live!!! I birdied the ninth to win the hole and improve the final result in all 5 matches which certainly put a smile my partner Mr Ravens' face and quietened down Mr Lewis who had been getting a little chirpier!! It was lots of fun with plenty of friendly banter as you can probably judge from these comments!

My first four dates to play friendly fourballs with members are now fully booked. I would love to play with as many different members as possible so if you have never played with me and would like to join me on any of the following dates please click here.

Friday 4 March 13.00
Friday 18 March 13.00
Saturday 26 March 13.30

We need one more member to make up our final team of three for the Surrey PGA Annual Awards Dinner and Pro/am on Tuesday 23 February. Cost is £110 to include the pro/am and the dinner. Please click here if you can help us out and join in.

Following last week's mention I have one team member for below and need two more.

I also have the opportunity to take members to PGA Pro/Am's across the South of England during the season. The first one is The Hayling Pro/Am on Friday 13 May. This is one of the best links courses in the South of England. If you would like to join me the cost is £105 per person (team of 3 amateurs with each professional) which includes coffee and bacon roll on arrival, lunch afterwards and a FREE practice round before the day. Click here if you would like to join me.

Following last week's request I still have several members owing on their accounts in the pro shop so please can you check your balance next time you are in the shop - many thanks . We are more than happy to run an account facility for you if you would like to place a small credit on your account to cover sundries for your convenience when purchasing goods.

Congratulations to Julian Thomas who won the Club Stableford on Sunday with 39 points (see coaching news above!) Second in Div 1 on countback was Jamie Willis with Kevin Thomas third with 38 points. Tim Cleminson won Div 2 with 36 points (was it down to your putting lesson Tim??), with Paul Reeves second with 35 points and Julien Payne in the frame again in third playing with his new M1 driver!

It was great to see lots of members using our fantastic new practice range last weekend.

If you are a member who has never used the practice range then you are still entitled to a free bucket of balls to give it a trial and remember that you are welcome to use my buggies free of charge to get up and down to the range. Whilst you are down there feel free to come and have a peek at our fantastic Swing Studio.

Here is a report from Brian Terry:

'The January Captain's Roll-up was played in atrocious conditions with wind and rain prevailing for much of the morning. Notwithstanding this we had the usual highly sociable competition after which the drinks, wine and excellent selection of food for lunch was all the more welcome.

With the 12th hole being played as a par three because the tee had been moved forward some adjustments to scores were necessary and this left Neil Blick as the winner with a highly commendable score of 35 points which gave him 5 eclectic points and these elevated him to the top of the competition so far. Alistair Wooster came second on 34 points and George Fergusson just pipped Mike Phillips on countback for third position. The February competition will be played on Wednesday, 24th February.'

This Saturday afternoon, following several postponements due to bad weather, we have our first Captain Pro challenge from Messrs Oakes and Sweetzer - look out for match reports next week!!!

Well done to Marjory Horsman, Rachel Atterbury and Julie Wilding who won the Texas Scramble last Wednesday. Second were Janet James, Sonja O'Sullivan and Barbra Brooks.
