Joseph Gould finds another Gravesy ballThe TaylorMade buy four dozen for the price of three with free ball personalisation deal is still running. Try out the fantastic new Tour Preferred 5 layer tour ball and take advantage of this fantastic deal.

Last week Mike Graves claimed that as two of his personalised balls had been found by 1 handicapper, Paul Baldwin, that he must be hitting them in the same places as top players.

However this week, the fourth consecutive week that a Gravesy ball has been returned, Joseph Gould said he found it way short of where his normal drive finishes!

Patrick is really enjoying helping golfers to find clubs that either outperform their current ones or finding clubs that fit perfectly into a yardage gap in your bag by using the Flightscope radar ball tracking device - click here to come and have some fun trying out the new technology Free Of Charge.

Sian and Julian Thomas with their newclubs

Report from Patrick. 'This weeks custom fittings saw the rule book torn up (TaylorMade's at least) and 44 yards gained by Lofting DOWN! Following on from an initial assessment into Sian Thomas' clubs a couple weeks ago we found that Sian's current 10.5 degree Mizuno driver was going 205 yards with a launch angle of 22 degrees and a spin rate of 5500 RPM, as a result I was keen to try Sian with TaylorMade's SLDR 9.5 degree driver which is a mega low spinning clubhead, the results were amazing The SLDR head dropped the Spin rate down to 1500 RPM and the launch to 19 degrees which is incredibly close to the optimal digits and increased Sian's driver distance to 249 yards and made an unavoidable purchase!

Julian Thomas was also along to see me on Saturday looking to potentially change one of his hybrids, Julian had a 19 degree TaylorMade RBZ 5 wood and a 18.5 degree PING hybrid. Julian felt these two clubs were doing a similar job and wanted to try a TaylorMade RBZ 4 hybrid to go between his 5 wood and his 4 iron. Julian proceeded to laser every ball down the middle with this hybrid and bizarrely enough it was going further than his 5 wood off the deck, not one to dwell on defying physics Julian felt he needed this club in his bag no matter which job it was doing!

Last Friday the Captain and I were challenged by Adrian Cotton and Philip Harrisson. After a wonderful brunch we set to and in a topsy turvy game we were three up with three to play only to lose 16 and 17. The professional then tweaked one into the bushes left of the pin with a 4 iron into the last. I must have been a good boy last week though because we luckily found the ball had popped out and after a great chip from the Captain I holed the side swinging four footer for a lucky half to win the match one up - unlucky Adrian and Philip after a great comeback.

We are still awaiting a challenge for next Friday 16 May before the Men's Dinner in the evening - click here to challenge us.

In the Captain's Roll Up last Wednesday Maurice Hazzard made a fantastic return, after several months out with a foot injury, to come straight back into the winners circle - it must be due to the technology in the new driver Maurice!

A report from John Watts. "We played our first round Parkstone Trophy match against one of the favourites Broadstone on Friday. Morning and afternoon scratch foursomes . In a great match we tied 5 all, one of the best results we have had in this competition. Unfortunately we lost on holes up 12 to 11. Alan Arscott, Terry Atkinson, Neil Blick, John Forrister, Bob James, Tom Keelan , Jim Meaney, John Mckimmie, Tim Osborn and John Watts. So hopefully we can look forward to the plate competition with some confidence.'

On Monday we will be placing an order for Ladies Helio Team round neck jumpers, V neck jumpers, sleeveless slipovers and for white team shirts. We have all the sizes in stock for you to try on for fit. If you would like any of these garments in team colours or in any other colours with the full West Hill logo or with the new exclusive members only logo then please come and see us by this Sunday at the latest.

Well done to Hilary Ashton who won the weekday stableford on tricky greens with 33 points. Second was Julie Wilding with 31 points with Kathryn McKimmie third on countback.

Course management made easy

If doing your yardages involves a cursory gaze towards the 150-yard marker - and then wondering on your backswing if that's to the front or the centre of the green - then it's high time you considered a distance measuring device.
