Last week's putting demo/drill day was a great success. Over 60 members tried out some of the drills we set up before the medal. Some were aimed at sharpening the focus for holing out and distance control (perfect before a medal) whilst others were to check alignment and improve the putting stroke. Here is Kevin Young pictured using one of our training aids to improve the stroke.

Paul Reeves is over the moon with his new Scotty Cameron putter which helped him to his medal win in May. He said "It is perfectly balanced and the strike off the face feels fantastic. It's definitely the best putter I've ever had."
Don't forget this Sunday is our Flightscope day so we will be measuring everyone's shot from the first tee using the radar launch monitor and explaining your "numbers" to you.
Also Saturday 23 July is our FREE WEDGE GAPPING DAY. It only takes 10 to 15 minutes before or after your game and we can tell you, using Flightscope, exactly how far you hit all of your wedges through the air.

Well done to Callum Mackay who played at Open Championship pre-qualifying at Burhill GC and shot 72 to narrowly miss out in a playoff but then got in as a last minute reserve and played the Open Final Qualifying at Woburn where he shot 72, 76 (+4) and had a great experience.
Callum then topped a great week by shooting 68, 70 to win the Clandon Regis Men's Open. Well done Callum.
Well done to Andy Elliott who defeated John Todd on Friday in the final of the Frank Williams Trophy in a tense match that finished only on the 21st hole. This is a senior's event preceded by a qualifying stableford competition. Andy had just recently had a coaching session where we improved his posture (see the better body angles in the left hand picture) enabling him to coil more powerfully and giving better results instantly! On the same day, 33 seniors participated in a stableford competition which was won by Jim Meaney on 34 pts with Ian McKinnon second also on 34 pts.
Here is a report from John McKimmie who captained the Parkstone Trophy Quarter Final at home to Hockley in John Watt's absence.
"The whole team played a part and it was a privilege to lead the team. However a special thanks to supersub Jimmy who stepped up to the mark. Also Mark and Nick gave us all a heart stopping 18th which we all enjoyed."
The team of John McKimmie, Peter Oakes, Jimmy Sweetzer, Mark Randall, Nick Cobb, Kamran Etebar, Peter Robinson, Warwick Taylor, Kevin Barkham and Bob James won through to the semis in the final match of the day!
Well done to Ruth Mackay who won the Stableford on Sunday with 35 points. Stephanie Davies was second with 34 pts and Lynne Daniel third with 33 pts. Then on Wednesday Helen Simmons won the Stableford with 39 pts, Claudia Johnson was second with 35 points, beating Karen Johnson on countback. The Vets and Senior Vets Cup were won by
Is it the 'Big Three' or the 'Big Four'?
Just when you thought Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy were all set to divvy up golf's biggest prizes, along comes big-hitting Dustin Johnson. The US champion is now number two in the world and looks to be finally fulfilling his potential after another fine win at the weekend - and a big one too at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. For years Johnson seemed destined to be the bridesmaid, now he's one of the favourites to go back-to-back in Majors and take the Claret Jug back across the Atlantic.
Next week's Open at Royal Troon could be a classic
