Please Can You Help Us By Giving Us Some Very Important Feedback

Last weekend we offered a free Wedge Gapping session in the Swing Studio using FlightScope to tell you exactly how far you hit your wedges which is very useful/helpful information. Despite advertising it for four weeks in the newsletter we had ZERO appointments.

Four weeks before we offered a FREE appointment in the swing studio for the 10 YARD CHALLENGE where we guaranteed to find you an extra 10 yards with any wood in your bag whether it be through equipment or technique improvement and had ZERO appointments.

Please click here and tell us if you are interested but the dates didn't suit or if there are other services that we can provide to help you play better golf. The more information you provide, the better the service I can deliver.

Nick's New Bats

Here is a report from Greg:

A few weeks ago Nick came to the TaylorMade fitting day to try out the new irons on offer. After trying out a couple of different options on shaft and head design Nick was hitting the M2 Tour straighter, further and more consistently than the others.

He then compared these against the Titleist AP1 and AP2 irons but still the M2 came out the best. We also added a new Titleist SM6 Vokey wedge to finish off the set.

If you would like to compare any of the latest clubs or find out how far you hit your current irons click here to arrange an appointment.

Pros news

Thanks to Matt Heather, Bill Wormald, Andrew McNaught, Richard Bolton, Alex Morrison and Rob Guilfoyle who joined Greg, Ashley and myself to support Cliff's pro/am at Reigate Heath on Wednesday. Unfortunately there were no West Hill winners but Cliff enjoyed a very successful day and the West Hill members enjoyed the course and particularly the stunning view from the terrace bar for most of the afternoon!

Well done to Ashley who won the Claret Jug (which you can see him pictured with) which we play for occasionally in our staff challenge match, taking it from me! He holed a great 5 footer on the last to beat Greg by one.

Members1 news

The Dawn Of The Kevin Young Era

Congratulations to Kevin Young who is the new Captain Elect following the Past Captains' lunch last Sunday. I'm sure you all join me in wishing Kevin a very enjoyable and successful captaincy in 2017. Kevin also organised the very popular members 'Fish and Chips' competition on Monday afternoon which was won by Kevin Parrington with 35 points. Well done KP!

First Tee Nerves

This Saturday Ashley will have the FlightScope on the first tee so he will be able to tell you your total distance, carry distance, clubhead speed, ball speed, smash factor and spin rates for your opening tee shot so you might be advised to warm up on the practice range first! Have fun finding out your numbers!

Willie Murray Cup

Well done to Sam Barkham who won the Willie Murray Cup on Sunday with a nett 67 - Sam, you'll have to play with 7 clubs only in your bag more often!

Division 2 dominated with Ian Kimber second with nett 69 and Matt Heather third with nett 71.

Division 1 was won by Peter Oakes with nett 71, with Jon Yates pipping John McKimmie on countback with nett 73.

Weekday Stableford

Friday's weekday Stableford was won by the young Joseph Wood with an amazing 41 points playing off 5!

Paul Cohen
was second with 39 points and Max O'Hagan third with 37 points. Then, on a very busy day, Karen St.James & Mike Coulson won the evening mixed greensomes beating Heather & Steve Thwaites on countback with 31 points for 14 holes.

Captain's Roll-up

Here is a report from Brian Terry

The Captain's Roll-up was played on Wednesday, 27th July in benign conditions and produced golf of the highest quality.

Only scores of 36 points or over featured on the leaderboard with Alistair Wooster (pictured with yours truly) proving yet again that a round of golf beats a day in the office.

Off his handicap of seven he scored an impressive 40 points without a scrub on any hole. This was good enough to take him to the top of the eclectic scores with just three scoring rounds and giving him a total of 14, only one point ahead of Neil Blick

Second was Past Captain Andrew Smith with 39 points and third was new member Michael Fleming with 38 points. The golf was followed by one of Brenden's cordon bleu lunches complimented with some excellent wines and the usual banter. The next Captain's Roll-up is on Wednesday, 31st August.

Ladies/Seniors Trophy

Congratulations Toddy and Philipa Atkinson who won the Ladies/Seniors Trophy with 39 points.

Second on countback, with 38 points, were our 2 captains Marjory Horsman and David Alvis.

Ladies news

Double Stableford

Well done to Janet Lea who won the Stableford on Wednesday with 38 points, pipping Claudia Johnson on countback. (It must be down to that coaching Janet!) Barbara Pike was third with 37 points and was also the winner of the Granny Trophy which I think she may have been defending! Maybe she was inspired as she is newly a granny again by her son as well as her daughter!

Congratulations also to Sonja O'Sullivan who won last weekend's Stableford with 30 points. Jan Gilkes was second with 28 points beating Ruth Mackay on countback.
