This week has been extremely quiet at the club with the vast amounts of course maintenance being carried out. The maintenance programme has been running smoothly and we've already seen the course starting to repair itself rapidly.
The West Hill juniors won a match yesterday at St George's Hill GC in the Guildford & District League by 4 : 2.

Wedge Gapping-
"Most everyday players take a pitching wedge and sand wedge to their courses and go. In the old days that was OK because most pitching wedges were around 51 degrees. But now they're 45 to 47 degrees while the sand wedge has stayed at 56. That's a two-plus club difference because now the pitching wedge is essentially the loft of a 9-iron." - Bob Vokey
One degree of loft can equate to 3/4 yards of carry. The average golfer may have a PW and then a SW in their set but if their PW is set to 46 degrees and SW set to 56 degrees then you could be looking at a yardage gap of approximately 35 Yards!
Having one or two specialised wedges in your set between your PW and SW may be the answer. Being able to swing the club fully and not think about changing the length or speed of your swing to compensate for that yardage gap will fill you with confidence going into any approach shot. Come into store today and see for yourself the specialised wedges we have in stock. Titleist, TaylorMade and Mizuno all offer a vast array of wedge lofts and bounces to help optimise short game control and bunker play!
