Your final chance to grab some sale deals this weekend before we fill the shop with the new autumn collections.

Staff news

Well done to Ashley who shot gross 69 to retain the Claret Jug which we play for amongst the staff.

My only excuse is that camping in a field in North Devon with my girls for 10 days doesn't fine tune the swing!

Studio news

A few weeks ago you saw a picture of Paul Prentice's improved swing following a coaching session. On Sunday Paul shot gross 72 to get cut to 3.8. Here is a quote from Paul.

"I would like to thank Guy for all the help he has given me in my recent golf lessons. I felt that I had been struggling for a while without understanding how to fix it, but his advice has solved that. I can now have worthwhile practice sessions, which makes a change. I hope I remember the feelings or I will be back to see him."

Members news

Congratulations also to Nick Millar who aced the 13th with a perfect 7 iron which pitched dead on line and just released into the hole. And you guesses it he was using his new custom fitted TaylorMade M2 irons which he purchased just a few weeks ago!!!

Well done to Craig Stow who won the Club Stableford with 41 points. Second in Div 2 was David Harrison with 36 points and third Chris Smith with 34 points. Charlie Norman took Div 1 with 38 points beating Callum Denham on countback with Paul Prentice third with 37 points - see Paul's quote about his coaching in Swing Studio news above.

Here is a report from Brian Terry

'Our Captain-elect Kevin Young joined the Roll-up on 30th August and continued his good form by recording 35 points and coming fourth in the competition. From this you will realise that scoring was excellent and Gwyn Davies (re-named Gwyneth by Rod Curry -who else?) needed to earn 40 points to secure first place. Mike Phillips and Nigel Sellars also excelled with their 38 points each with Mike edging ahead on countback.

Brenden
cooked two delightful suet puddings filled with ox cheeks (plus liver and bacon and trout) and, not only did Neil Blick reserve one for himself (nearly), but then ordered a special selection of off-menu vegetables to accompany it. The next competition is on 28th September so please sign up now.'

Well done to Kamran Etebar who won the seniors Hugh Murphy Rose Bowl with 39 points. Alistair Somerville pipped Barry Goss into second place with 37 points. Well done Barry - the coaching looks like it's paying dividends.

Captain pro challenge

Last Thursday the Captain and Pro were challenged by Philip Wiper and Julian Hodnett

Although we came out on top our challengers won the prize of the longest lunch as Mr Wiper insisted on supplying a second bottle of red with lunch!!!

Our next challenge is today from Mark Turner and Joe McQuaid

Ladies news

Unfortunately Golfino have cancelled their mini pro shop account with me as my sell through has not been enough for them to justify the £5,000 worth of stock which I hold each season. However, there are some fantastic end of season sale reductions with 50% off some items and 30% off everything. We also have 40% off our Galvin Green ladies clothing.

Well done to Chris Elliott who won the weekend Stableford with 40 points bearing Tina Thomas on countback, with Jan Gilkes third with 36 points. Then yesterday Sylvia Sands continued to thrive following her coaching with a win in the weekday medal with a nett 74. Second on countback was Kathryn McKimmie with Sian Thomas third with nett 75.
