The course is looking fantastic with a sea of purple as the heather still in full bloom, the greens putting beautifully and the tree work almost complete. Well done to Karen Johnson who came third in the Autumn Meeting yesterday just 5 days after her first coaching session with me - how's that for instant results!!

    

Karen has a great swing but was looking for more power and distance and a more consistent strike. We simply improved the way she stores up power in the downswing (as you can see in the left picture Karen has retained a better angle between her arms and the shaft in the downswing). This later release of the clubhead produces more clubhead speed and more distance.




Well done to Alan Arscott and Derek Plumstead who won the Centenary Trophy Foursomes with 37 points. Second were Kevin Parrington and Warwick Taylor with 36 points and third Ian Edwards and Barry Goss with 35 points. 

Last Thursday the Captain and Pro were challenged by Mark Turner and Joe McQuaid. The Captain played brilliantly and we shot our lowest round of the year - a gross 72 for a solid win. Well done David.

  

Yesterday we played another Captain/Pro challenge against Peter Yearsley and Kevin Thomas. The steak and claret lunch seems to bring out the best in the captain as he then led us to a good win. However, Mr Thomas led us all to our fastest Captain Pro match of the year - 2 hours 40 mins for 18 holes!! Forget The Race to Dubai, tomorrow its George Fergusson and Brian Morris so more reports to follow in The Race to Saunton Sands!!

Congratulations to Peter Bellion who competed in the Trilby Tour final at The Forest of Arden. Peter had a very enjoyable day - not a winner finishing middle of the field - but did play with "Mike", who when we left, was joint leader. William Hunt asked Peter not to play with a yellow ball as it didn't show on SKY TV. However maybe we might see Mr B when the Final is shown on Sky in December.

   


 

I haven't been given any gossip about the West Hill ladies away tour but I do know that some of them are now Segway experts with certificates to prove it!!!!

Well done to Kay Bowman who won the gross prize at the Autumn Meeting with an 81. Kathryn McKimmie was second with 84 and Karen Johnson third with 85. Penny Nardelli won the gross prize in Division 2 with a 98. The nett was won by Somja O'Sullivan with 70, second was Helen Simmons with nett 71 and third, after only having her first coaching session on Friday, was Karen Johnson with nett 72.
