Here is a perfect example of how a better backswing coil can create more power and distance and a better strike. Karen Johnson won the ladies Stableford with 39 points just 5 days after having this coaching session
In Pic 1 left picture, Karen has lifted the club up with her arms and shoulders in the second half of the backswing without increasing the coil in her body. Whereas in the right picture she felt that her upper body continued to rotate against the resistance of her thighs achieving more torque.
In the left picture you can see how the arm and shoulder lift in the backswing has led to a push down from the arms and shoulders in the backswing and therefore there is no angle left between her left arm and the shaft of the club ( in other words there is no hinge left in the wrists).
In the right picture the coiled backswing has led to the downswing unwind coming from the legs, resulting in a powerful position with lots of leverage as there is still an angle in the wrists ready to unleash the clubhead into the ball with more speed. Conclusion - one swing thought of turn chest against thighs = better use of the legs in the downswing and more power = 39 points!

Ashley's Tech Corner- 2017 TaylorMade M1 & M2!
The all-new M1 driver takes multi-material construction to the next level delivering distance, forgiveness and complete personalisation. Featuring a new 6-layer carbon crown and additional carbon toe panel, the M1 has 43% more carbon than last year's model. This reinvention saves weight to enable lower CG for better launch conditions and allows for an expanded T-Track for improved adjustability.
The 2017 M2 driver brings golfers a new level of distance and forgiveness through all-new Geocoustic technology. The M2 raises the bar in design and engineering through reinvented multi-material construction, advanced geometric shaping and an improved Speed Pocket which is three times more flexible than in the original M2. Together, these combine to increase the overall inertia of the M2 without sacrificing performance.
Personally, I've hit both Drivers and they really are excellent.
The major factor for me was the feel of the strike and the immediate noise of the impact. It's by far the best driver I've hit, EVER.

Before Christmas we played the first Captain Pro Challenge of the year against the two immediate past captains, David Alvis and Andrew Smith.
Unfortunately, due to the professional missing two very short putts on the back nine and some excellent putting from the PCs we suffered a defeat of 2 down.
However, in Maurice Hazzards' year it was this initial defeat which then spurred the Captain and Pro on to a run of 17 matches unbeaten so here's hoping for Deja Vu!
The pair who beat us by the biggest winning margin of the year will win a round of golf against us at Hayling Island so look out for the challenge dates for The Race to Hayling soon.
Well done to Paul Hanley and Chris Smith who won the Hogmanay Salver with a fantastic score of 5 up.
Peter Oakes and Nigel Sellars were second with 3 up and Gerry Kennedy and Mark Randall were third with 2 up. Great to see Nigel back at the club competing again.
We were very pleased to see Dame Laura Davies playing at West Hill before Christmas.
She is a good friend of John Scurlock-Davies but as he is still recovering from his back op he walked round and Jeremy, Paul and Richard got the lucky invites.
She played fantastically, shooting 66 from the men's tees including a back nine of 30 with birdies on 10, 15 and 17 and an eagle on 12.
And she loved the course so much that John said she is likely to be back in the next month!
Well done to Karen Johnson who won the Bisque Stableford last week with 39 points following her coaching session just 5 days before!! Second was Liz Hooper with 38 points and third Elaine Watts with 37 points.
