Another huge improvement in one session in the Swing Studio! Look how in the right hand picture Raj's' left arm has buckled outward into the "chicken wing" position which is a sign of a weaker impact position where the clubhead is overtaking the hands. 

  

The left picture with much better extension creates more compression of the ball at impact for more distance and more consistent ball striking.

Ashley's Technology Corner 

This week we've had Bob Porter come in to pick up his new set of Mizuno Irons and Wedges. Bob came to our Mizuno Fitting day and found that the JPX900 Hot metal Irons gave him the best flight, distance and general performance over other JPX Models. 

He was also fitted for three Mizuno T7 wedges which helps to maintain that consistent loft gap throughout his bag, making sure he can hit those difficult shorter yardages. 

If you ask Bob nicely, he may even show you the 'BOB' Stamping he's had customised onto his wedges in a beautiful white finish. 

Nice touch.

Last Friday the Captain and Pro had their first challenge match since the Captain's return against George Fergusson and Alex Forbes and had to give 10 shots. 

We were 3 down through 11 holes but managed gross birdies on 12, 14, 16 and 17 where the Captain holed a 50 footer across the green. The pro then hit a 225 yard hybrid to 20 feet at the last and we won it with a par four of a halved match.

The pair who beat us by the largest number of holes up through 18 holes will win a rematch with us at Hayling GC in October so the Race to Hayling has begun with the current leaders being Past Captains David Alvis and Andrew Smith who beat us 2 up in the opening match.

Well done to the Ladies' Captain and Barry Goss who won the West Hill Knights Easter Plate with 39 points this week.

We would love to see lots of member's teams competing in The West Hill Pro/Am. Three amateurs play 18 holes with a top South Region PGA pro then have a wonderful 3 course lunch/dinner and there are £2,500 of amateur prizes to be won. The course will be magnificent and the greens fast as the following day is also the Club Championships.

I'm very sad to report that Ashley will be leaving us next Friday to take up the position of Assistant Professional at Beaverbrook Golf Club near Leatherhead. Ashley has been with us for 18 months and has been a great asset to both myself in the Pro Shop and to West Hill Golf Club. 

I hope you have the chance to pop in this weekend and wish him the best of luck in his new venture and I'm sure we will still see him around at West Hill in the future.
