The Masters Sweep has been very popular and we have had to run two draws with just a dozen numbers left in draw 2. We will do the draw on Monday when we know the final field and publish everyone's players in next week's newsletter. I am taking a group of 7 members to Augusta and we will be spectating on the Tuesday practice day and the first day of the tournament on Thursday so look out for David and Karen Duncan, Kaj and Anne Abrahamsen, David Harrison, Tracey Peryman and Ed Shanley on the big screen.
I believe Mark Davies, Jon Yates, Mike Coulson, Alan Arscott, Ken Schofield and Richard Hills will also be there!
My pick for the week is Jon Rahm although it's very hard to bet against Dustin Johnson at the moment. Enjoy the viewing!
Well done to Craig Kimber who was in the prizes in the Stableford on Sunday and has been improving his swing with me in a coaching programme.
In the left picture you can clearly see that Craig's right elbow is very high. This excessive arm lift causes an over swing and tilts the body weight back onto the left foot in the backswing. We simply worked on keeping the right elbow pointing downward in the backswing (right picture) which encouraged an earlier wrist hinge and a better body coil. This felt much more tightly coiled to Craig and immediately created more power and a better strike. Is your right elbow to high?

Don't forget to enter The West Hill Pro/Am. We would love as many members as possible to enjoy playing in this great day at the club. Click here.
This week we've had David Duncan come in to pick up his new Mizuno JPX900 Driver and Scotty Cameron Putter. David came to our Mizuno fitting day and found that the JPX900 Driver gave him the best flight, distance and performance over his previous TaylorMade models.
Design, craftsmanship and proven performance have solidified Scotty Cameron's reputation for making the finest milled putters in the world.
The perfect mixture of art and engineering, his hand-finished putters are trusted by the games top players and are prized for their performance. Guy, myself and Greg all use these putters due to their unique feel and versatility. Why change your putting stroke when we can fit a putter to your putting stroke? Come in store today to get your own personal recommendation, as well as a selection of demonstration Scotty's to try.
Sadly, this Friday will be my final day working for Guy at West Hill. I have accepted an Assistant Professional role at Beaverbrook Golf Club in Leatherhead. Over the past 18 months I've gotten to know some of you very well and I hope on the odd occasion I may be able to come back and visit because West Hill is a magnificent golf club with a great group of members which I'll dearly miss.
Thank you all for being very welcoming and warming towards me during my time with you. I've been very proud to represent you in tournaments and through my PGA education and wish you all the very best in the future - Ashley.
Here is a report from Brian Terry.
'86 year-old Ken Marchant wins Captain's Roll-up with 41 points.
Through sheer determination and durability Past Captain Ken Marchant won the Captain's Roll-up on 29th March with 41 points. This forced otherwise excellent scores such as Mark Randall's 37 points (playing in the Roll-up for the first time) into second place and George Fergusson's and Richard Bolton's 35 points into third and fourth places respectively.
We welcomed back the Captain from his two month break in South Africa who was grateful to John Stone for having covered for him at the January and February competitions. We were delighted that Guy and John Clements were both able to play with us.
The next Roll-up will be on 26th April.'
Well done to Chris Smith who won the Club Stableford on Sunday with 37 points. Second in Division 2 was new member Russell Taylor, who was pictured with me in the newsletter last month, with 34 points and third was Ben Turner with 33 points. Division 1 was won by Lawrence Courtney beating Roger Pennington on countback with Craig Kimber third with 35 points. Well done Craig who has been improving his swing with me in the Studio this winter (see Swing Studio news above).
Well done also to Jamie Potter who has had lots of coaching this winter and won the Weekday Stableford on Friday with 38 points. Second was Lawrence Courtney with 37 points and third Brendan Dunne with 36 points.
I believe that 23 Past Captains enjoyed the PC's dinner last Friday night with 16 of them competing in the Past Captains' Foursomes on Saturday. Congratulations to Bill Colvin and John McKimmie who were the winners with 32 points.
Congratulations to Jan Gilkes who won the medal on Saturday with a nett 76. Second was Kay Bowman with nett 78 and third Liz Hooper with nett 79.
Well done to all the ladies who enjoyed Greg's coaching clinics and are getting sharpened up ready for the season ahead.
As many of you have seen we have lots of ladies demo clubs arriving from Yonex, Titleist and Mizuno and the TaylorMade set should be with us any day. Please feel free to try them on the course and if you like them then we can double check that they are good for you in the Swing Studio.
