What an amazing week at the Masters for Taylor Made with their two top players Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose fighting it out using all the latest M family equipment. A couple of weeks ago John Botham came for an iron fitting, he was looking for something with a little more forgiveness. We started with John's current irons which were Callaway Diablo to see how far he hit them, then we moved onto the Mizuno DNA fitting system to establish the correct shaft to suit John's swing and finally we looked at head design. 

After trying similar head's and shafts from Titleist and TaylorMade it was easy to see the stand out club was the M2 from TaylorMade. By fitting John with a better suited graphite shaft we managed to increase the spin to the correct amount which helped to increase the distance but most importantly increase the consistency of strike.

Last week Keith Stanley came for a driver fitting. Having only had a 3 wood as his longest club due to not feeling comfortable with controlling a driver we set about finding that club. 

After trying all the latest heads and shafts from Titleist, TaylorMade and Mizuno, the Titleist 917 D2 with the Diamana shaft was the most consistent for distance, shot dispersion but most importantly Keith felt comfortable in controlling the club.

Congratulations to Alex Forbes who won the Ferney Cup qualifier two weekends ago with a fantastic nett 65. He also qualifies to play with me in the PGA South Region National Pro/Am Qualifier on the Old Course at Walton Heath in July where we will need to beat a large field of pros with their amateur partners to progress to the PGA National Final at Vila Sol in Portugal. 

Then this weekend Jonathan Hewett won the Easter Challenge Cup with a nett 68. Steve Weait, fresh back with a new knee, was second in Division one with a net 70 and Jamie Potter third on nett 71. Division two was won by Rob Andrews with nett 70 pipping Justin Jones on countback with Terry Atkinson third.

Here are Jon Yates, Justin Jones, Mike Coulson and Mark Davies who we met on the Thursday at Augusta, pictured at Kiawah Island on the Monday where they were celebrating Mark's 50th birthday in style. Well done also to Helen and Stephen Atkinson who won the Easter Monday Mixed Foursomes with 38 points beating Jane and Ian Kimber on countback with Laura Murphy and Nick Cobb third with 36 points.

We are now only 5 weeks away from the close of entries to the West Hill Pro-am. We would love as many members as possible to enjoy playing in this great day at the club. You can enter either individually and we will put you in a team of 3 to play with your pro, or you can enter as a team of 3. Any member entering with guests will still pay the members team rate of £330 as opposed to the visitor's team rate of £450. You can invite your own PGA pro to join you or I can allocate you a professional from the PGA South Region Order of Merit.
