The new M2 driver is really easy to generate club speed, it feels very lively and friendly, which you don’t have to be on top of your game to get the best out of it, which for most amateurs is a nice place to be.

Spring Invitation

Congratulations to Alex Paramor & Tom Donaldson (Mill Ride) who won the Spring Invitation Day with 79 points. Second aggregate were John McKimmie & Ian Cruickshank (Walton Heath) with 76 points and third aggregate was Craig Kimber & Alan Healy (Wentworth) with 75 points.

Best Afternoon - Michael Fleming & Iain Scally (Wentworth) on 35 points and runner-up Warwick Taylor & Mark Hassall (West Surrey) with 34 points.

Best Morning - Graham Methold & Jon Rashbrook (Sutton Green) with 43 points and runner-up on c/b Anthony Wysome & James Allen (Upavon) also with 43 points.

Tommy Martin Foursomes Qualifier

Well done also to Stephen Atkinson & John McKimmie who won the Tommy Martin Foursomes Qualifier with 38 points. Second were Phil Edwards & David Mills with 37 points (and guess what - Phil had a coaching session with me just 20 hours previously on the Saturday - more evidence that coaching can give instant improvements!!)

30 points was the cut off point for qualifying through to the Matchplay with Gavin Cookman and Julien Payne gaining the last spot and nine other pairs missing out by either countback or just one point.

Recent competitions

Our Ladies' Captain, Brenda Harnett, mentioned to me that some ladies were complaining that I had not posted results from the Spring Meeting in last week's newsletter. I would like to make clear that I always post all the ladies results and the only reason I am usually lacking pictures is that I am rarely sent any, so these are much appreciated thank you.

We write the newsletter over several hours on a Tuesday/Wednesday for distribution on a Thursday so the only reason most Wednesday ladies comps go into the following week is one of timing.

Well done to Sonja O'Sullivan who won the Spring Challenge Cup with a nett 70. Second in Div 1 was Liz Hooper with nett 72 and third Karen Duncan with nett 73. Division 2 was won by Viv Field with nett 75, second was Tracy Peryman with nett 79 and third Helen Simmons with nett 80.

The Barclays Cup for best score by a Past Ladies' Captain was won by Janet Lea and Anne Trew won the Elusive Cup.
