Featured lesson of the week

You will be pleased to hear that Paul Lewis is back in action and swinging well.

Look how we massively improved his impact position in one session. In the first picture he was driving his right knee towards the target which caused too much lateral motion and created an in to out swing path with shots being pushed to the right.

In the second picture we worked on rotating the hips over the left heel more. This created an " in to square to in" swing path which sent the ball straight down the target line on a lower, more penetrating ball flight.

Goodbye from Ryan

"Sadly, next Friday the 16th of June will be my final day working for Guy at West Hill. I have accepted an Events Assistant role at Clarion Golf based nearer to home in Leatherhead. Over the past year and a half I've been fortunate enough to get to know some of you very well and I hope to still pop into the club from time to time whilst I'm completing my final year of my degree at Merrist Wood College.

Thank you all for being very welcoming and making my time at West Hill very enjoyable. My role at Clarion Golf involves the planning and running of golf days with the use of the electronic scoring system Golf GameBook. If any of you organise or plan to arrange any golf days then both Guy and Greg have my contact details if you would like to give me a call/ email to see if we can help with the planning and/ or running the Golf GameBook system for you. Surrey amateur championships

Huge congratulations to Max O'Hagan who won the Surrey Amateur at Royal Mid Surrey on Sunday to become county champion. 66 golfers played a 36 hole scratch medal on Friday, with the top 16 qualifying through to the Matchplay stages. 

West Hill were also crowned County Club Champions as our nominated team of 3 players beat Hindhead by one shot as follows

4th Max O'Hagan 67 & 73, 13th Callum Mackay 66 & 77 and 22nd Callum Denham 72 & 73.

Total score 428

Joseph Wood also shot 71 & 71 to finish 8th and qualify for the Matchplay alongside Max and Callum Mackay.

Callum lost in the last 16 on Saturday morning, Joseph lost in the last 8 on Saturday afternoon and Max went all the way to win as follows:

Last 16 - he won 4 & 3, Quarters - he won 2 up, Semis - he won 6 & 5 and in the Final - he won 3 & 2.

In the final he finished birdie, eagle, birdie!

Back-to-back wins

Well done to Lynne Daniel who won's back-to-back with her nett 69 in the medal on Saturday and had her handicap cut from 16 to 15. Second was Stephanie Davies with a nett 74, pipping Chris Elliott on countback.
