The West Hill Pro/Am was a great success on Friday with 216 golfers enjoying fantastic greens which were running very fast and true at nearly 12 on the stimp meter. The course was in spectacular condition and the three course lunch/dinner enjoyed by every competitor was fantastic.

We had a very strong field of the best 54 professionals in the South of England and with not too difficult pins the winning score was 68 which shows what a great test of golf West Hill is. There were 6 professionals tied winning pictured above.
I shot 70 for 9th place and just needed a couple more putts to drop.
The winning team of juniors led by Max O'Hagan scored 82 points to pip James Kyle's team by one. Other member's teams in the prizes were Paul Manduca, Alan Arscott and Simon Jones.
Many thanks to Pro/Am sponsors Stewart Baseley, Alan Arscott, Julien Payne (Galleon Care Homes) and Nick Hill (KRL)

Congratulations to Callum Mackay who won the Gold Medal and Club Championships with a +6 total of 144. Tied 2nd on 9 over were Max O'Hagan and Andrew Dusek. Andy gave Callum a close run but unfortunately went OOB at the last.
The other qualifiers for the Club Scratch Matchplay Championships are Jonathan Holdan +10, James Finnigan +13, David Sloan +13, Fergus Gilmore +14 and Stuart Mackie +15.
Callum was fresh back from winning the members tour to Killarney, Ballybunion, Waterville and Lahinch organised by Mark Randall and Tom Keelan.
Kevin Young assures me that Warwick Taylor did not make par from the top of this sand dune - I'm just pleased he had enough oxygen to get up to his ball!!!
Jonathan Holden and I represented West Hill in the South of England qualifier for the Lombard Trophy which is the national PGA pro/am. We played fourball better ball at Kingswood and shot four under par finishing 11th. The winning score was 7 under which we could have easily achieved as Jonathan played very well but the professional's putting was definitely not hot on the day!!!
Gloria Foxhall had a wonderful sunny day for Ladies' Captains Day and the ladies had a wonderful time on very fast greens. The winner was Sian Thomas with 38 points ( playing with her new custom fit TaylorMade SLDR driver and fairway woods fitted by Patrick ). Second was Cilla Shaw with 36 points and third was Sylvia Sands on countback. Sylvia Mole also won the blue course prize with 31 points.
