An iron that went too far!

Robin Briars (Fathers and Son Honorary member) is the first to purchase the new Titleist AP3 irons from West Hill. Robin came for a fitting earlier this month, we started with the Mizuno DNA fitting system to establish which shafts worked best with his swing. We then looked at head design, the AP3 and the TaylorMade P790 came out on top, the small issue with the P790's is they went too far, yes that's right an iron that goes too far. The reason being, the short irons would go much further causing a large gap between his pitching wedge and the gap wedge.

The AP3 with the new AMT shaft gave Robin a more consistent flight and a tighter shot dispersion.If you would like to know more about the fitting service and an iron that goes further and straighter then please book a fitting.

Captain and Pro

Yesterday the immediate Past Captain (IPC) and the Pro had a rematch against the Captain and Pro Challenge Winners for 2017, Craig Kimber and Mark Randall with brunch and wine on the IPC. As you can see from the smile on Kevin's face, I'm pleased to report a 2 & 1 victory and revenge for the IPC and Pro!!

The New Captain and Pro also are looking for their first challengers on Friday 1 December at 12.00pm. Remember, any pair who challenge us are then invited to compete in the Captain/Pro Play Offs on Saturday 6 October 2018.

New members

Last Thursday I played with new members Jon Kent, Richard Carlson and Darren Noel who all joined the club this year. Jon plays off a very solid 11 and is a past Captain of The Drift GC. He is very keen to play in club matches so match managers take note! Richard was a high class cricketer and already plays off 22, although this is his first time at a members club, so watch his handicap tumble next year! Here is a message from Darren:

"49 years old, semi-retired but wife tells me I’m driving her nuts so apparently I am going back to work soon. Virtually all friends call me Baz, not Darren, so if you find a ball with Baz on the side of it, it’s mine! 4 handicap, but have aim to reduce it to match my son Tommy who has also joined West Hill and plays off 3 (at least temporarily.) Always up for a small (ish) money game if anyone ever wants one!"
