Short game success

Ian Edwards came for a pitching lesson for 20 to 60 yard shots on Tuesday, and on Friday he won Division 1 of the Weekday Stableford with a gross 76. Well done Ian!

In the left (first) picture you can see that Ian has remained very flat footed with more weight on his right foot at impact. This lack of weight transfer caused inconsistent ball striking and also prevented the hips and body clearing through impact. This lack of rotation through impact causes either the club face to be open leading to pushes to the right and even shanks in extreme cases or, the complete opposite when the hands flip past the body at impact giving pull shots to the left.

By simply improving Ian's leg action and rotation through impact his ball striking and direction massively improved. If you would like to play better golf in 2018 click here and talk to us about your game now. Remember, it's only 8 weeks until British Summer Time!

Weekday Stableford

Well done to Andrew Smith who won the weekday Stableford on Friday with 37 points and was cut to 16. Second in division 2 was Will Longmuir with 35 points who was also cut to 14. Division 1 was won by Ian Edwards with 36 points - just 3 days after having a pitching lesson for 20 to 60 yard shots - how's that for instant results!! Second was Paul Mayne with 35 points.

Conquer the fat wedge shot

Those of you who are brave enough to face the elements and get out on the course over the winter will know that it’s very easy to hit the odd fat shot, especially with your wedges when trying to be more delicate around the greens. This can be incredibly frustrating, but luckily we’re here to help…
