Pro Shop staff update…

With David having departed for his first head pros position, Dan Johnson has now stepped up to embark on his full training with the PGA. This will take him at least 3 years to become a fully qualified member of The Professional Golfers’ Association. Over the next couple of years we will be asking for your help, sometimes as guinea pigs for practice coaching, and maybe to join him at assistants Pro-Ams. In the meantime, please invite him to join you for games at the club.

We have also been joined by Tom Banks who will be working for us every Sunday as well as occasional other days. Here is an intro from Tom:

“I am a 17 year old golfer and I have recently been finishing my golf diploma followings two years of studies at Merrist Wood College with Dave Osborn. I have only been playing golf for around 4 years, and in that time I have managed to get down to a handicap of 5. I would like to do my PGA trainee course at some stage in the future and this has led me to West Hill where so far I have met so many nice members who have made me feel welcome. I’m looking forward to working with everyone and hopefully get a few games in with some of the members. “

Feel free to pop in and introduce yourself to Tom and to wish Dan luck in his apprenticeship.

Easter Challenge Cup

Congratulations to Julien Payne who won the Easter Challenge Cup with a nett 67. Second in Division 2 was Julian Hodnett with a nett 69 and third was Chris Smith with nett 72. Division 1 was very tight with Alan Arscott’s nett 70 pipping Clive Morgan on countback and beating Iain McColl by a single shot.

Bank Holiday Mixed Foursomes

On Monday the scoring was amazing with Sarah & Alex Langland winning the Bank Holiday Mixed Foursomes with 40 points. Second were Helen & Paul Simmons with 38 points and third, Jane & Ian Kimber with 37 points.

Ladies Weekend Stableford

Well done to Helen Atkinson who won the Weekend Stableford with 35 points. Second was Cilla Shaw with 34 points, beating Kay Bowman on countback.

Another way to gain distance
