Captain’s Roll up Report from Brian Terry: Despite the fact that there were 18 temporary greens (or, perhaps, because the course was much shorter) the scoring in the Captain’s Roll-up on 24th April was exceptional. Tim Rosenberg won the trophy with an impressive 42 points, closely followed by Iain McColl on 40 points and Mike Phillips on 39 points. The next Roll-up is on 29th May.

The day was marked by a first ever hole in one for Elaine Watts on the 15th. Well done also to Gwyn Davies for organising the day.

The Granville Match - Report from Terry Atkinson The annual West Hill versus Granville match teed off on April 24th with the away leg on the celebrated Granville links. The players were greeted with blustery showers alternating with sunny intervals – typical April weather for this corner of Normandy. The match is played on a mini Ryder Cup format with four balls, foursomes and singles. On the first morning, the home side got off to a good start in the four balls claiming 2.5 matches to 1.5. But West Hill fought back in the afternoon foursomes – a format which we know so much better than our French opponents – winning by 3 matches to 1. With 10 singles to come, the match was finely poised. Fine play by West Hill in the singles led to a victory by 6 matches to 4 and thus an overall victory by 10.5 to 7.5, the first time in the nine year history of the match that the away side has won. The second leg will be played at West Hill in October with the French team eager to make amends, but West Hill are now clear favourites to retain the Terry Cup. Stephen Lewis was making his debut in this match and was the star of the show winning all three matches including beating Richard Bazire in the singles, no mean feat this as Richard recently finished 5th in the Spanish Senior Open.
The full history of this match is found on the website here. |

Be honest, how much thought do you put into the golf ball that you play? Probably not as much you do your clubs but considering the ball is in play on every single shot, using any old thing that you find at the bottom of your bag could be leaving you paddling uphill. |
| Which Titleist ball to play? |
|
The first question to ask is: What do you want from your ball? Obviously, getting the thing in the hole in as few shots as possible is the ultimate goal, but there are many paths to getting there. There are balls that offer impressive distance, such as the Titleist Velocity, whilst others that provide incredible feel, such as DT TruSoft. But if you are looking for total performance without sacrificing on any one element, Titleist's Pro V1, Pro V1x and AVX balls are truly phenomenal. With subtle differences between each, this is where having a chat with a member of our PGA qualified team will have you leaving with the best ball for your game - what will yours be? |
