Custom Fitting News From Greg
Last week Peter Oakes came to see me as he was unhappy with how his 3 wood was performing. I got him to hit some shots using the Flightscope to get an idea of what was happening, this showed that Peter was getting an inconsistent ball flight which in turn gave inconsistent distances. We tried some different clubs, one of which was the Taylor Made RBZ 2 5 wood with the slightly firmer TP shaft, which gave Peter a better ball flight with more consistent distances and spin rates than his old 3 wood.
If you're looking at purchasing new clubs come and see me in the pro shop or click here to book a fitting, remember custom fitting is for everyone.
Last weekend saw the conclusion of West Hill's biggest entered competition with 164 competitors this year - The Denning Trophy.
Congratulations to the winners Ian and Phil. THE ENTRIES FOR THE 2015 DENNING TROPHY CLOSE IN 8 DAYS TIME ON 31 OCTOBER. CLICK HERE IF YOU NEED HELP FINDING A PARTNER.
Here is a report from John Watts:
"We beat West Surrey today 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 in the Surrey Seniors Salver final at Puttenham. It was a terrific match with three matches going to the 18th and one decided on the 17th. The side was Terry Atkinson , Neil Blick, Stuart Bosley ,Adrian Cotton, Bob James, Jim Meaney, Rob Pike, Richard Owen , Mark Randall and John Watts. On a separate note, I putted really well today- Missed only once from inside 10 feet. So a big thank you for the lesson on Friday."
Well done Team West Hill in their matching team jumpers too!!!!
Last Friday I played with new members Riccardo Nardelli and Andy Elliott as well as Alan Dickinson who joined 4 years ago from East Berks. My partner Alan played awesome golf to seal victory but look out for Riccardo and Andy who play very solid golf too. Here is some info from Andy:
"I live in Ascot and have recently joined West Hill . I also am a member at North Hants Golf Club. Very keen to play regularly in Saturday morning fourballs . Play regularly in Sandy Spence Thursday roll-up and in Captains monthly roll-up ( have done 2 so far ) Handicap 6 although did not demonstrate anything like that in my first game with Guy! Retired a few years ago after being Managing Director of software company preceded by career in bigger companies in IT industry. My wife Chris handicap 10 also in process of applying for membership. "
Please introduce yourself to Riccardo and Andy when you see them at the club and feel free to invite them for a game soon.
I played a friendly fourball on Sunday morning with West Hill members Peter Robinson, Tim Rosenberg and Mike Phillips. Mike was unlucky to draw me as a partner but played superb golf to halve the match. Tim is striking the ball fantastically off a 19 handicap and his short game would be sharper if he wasn't also fitting in skiing in Switzerland, playing Blues guitar and racing his R1 motorbike amongst other interests - he doesn't often pre-book his golf so contact him if you are looking for a last minute game of golf on a dry weekend!!
If you have never played golf with me or haven't done so for a few years and would like to join me for a friendly fourball click here and we'll set up a date this winter.
In an unbelievably close medal last Saturday 9 members were within one shot of winning with five net 69's and four net 70's. In division 1 were 1st Mark Turner, 2nd Paul Champion, 3rd Callum Denham all with net 69 and in Division 2, 1st David Jones net 69, 2nd Andrew Smith net 70 and 3rd Justin Jones net 74. Congratulations to Terry Atkinson who won the Midweek Stableford with 32 points. Second was George Fergusson with 30 pts and third Jimmy Sweetzer with 29 pts.

Michael’s Corner
In this week’s edition of the newsletter, I am going to be informing about another collection we have in store from Galvin Green. So far I have taken you through the Insula collection, and the Wind-Stopper collection. This week I am writing about the Skintight collection, one of the most important pieces of clothing for the winter! The Skintight collection from Galvin Green is full of technology to keep you warm. The Skintight collection uses compression to stimulate the blood flow, which keeps the oxygen in your muscles, so you stay warm, and don’t stiffen up on the golf course. The frim/tight fit ensures the garment is extremely durable and decreases the risks of tears. As the other collections I have spoken about do, the Skintight collection lets any excess heat/moisture escape, so you don’t feel clammy on the golf course. It also has permanent anti-bacterial technology in it, which keeps the garments fresh, even after a long game of golf! In store we have a wide range of the Skintight collection. We have Roll Neck thermals, non-roll neck thermals, leggings even boxer shorts! So why not come in store today, and warm your winter up?
As I have done for a few weeks, I have been playing with the members on a Sunday, and would love to keep doing so, so if you’re interested in playing with me, click here to sign up for a game, email me on michael.herd@hotmail.com, or just pop in the shop and we can arrange something.
Remember that New Year's Resolution to play more golf in 2014? There are lots of competitions coming up so sign up online.
