Last Saturday Friday I played with new members Ben Turner, Chris Smith and Christian Stroyberg. Christian has been a member for a couple of years but would like to play more weekday golf so please give him a call.

Here is a paragraph from Ben:

"Having played cricket to a high standard previously, I am a relative newcomer to golf. My golfing career started with somewhat nomadic golf in/around London and I often found myself with people pulling out at the last minute or simply not being able to play as often as I would have liked to. I joined West Hill in September this year, it has been a fantastic experience so far and I now know that I can always get a game! Unfortunately, being bound by work means that in the winter months I can only get down at weekends but when the days get longer again, I am hoping to be able to get down in the later afternoon. I'm always up for a game and having started out playing off 15, I'm going to be working pretty hard to get that down to single digits."

And here is some info from Chris:

"I'm 50 this year, married and have been for 28 years with Two "children" Thomas who is 28! and Gemma 25, live in Camberley and work for myself as a Mortgage Broker and have done since 1988 which is when I started playing golf. 28 Handicap for the first 15 years until lessons with Alan Barber over at Windlesham GC, that knocked 10 shots off which irritated the hell out of the societies when I pick up a load of trophies in that year! They soon bought me down, so that stopped.

Only played golf with Societies or friends who had memberships, this did include East Berks, Camberley Heath & Wentworth so not a bad list, I've played most courses in the surrounding area over the years including New Zealand, Swinley Forest, Berkshire, Foxhills, Worplesdon & Woking, and due to my son working there for a short period Queenwood once. I could add numerous lesser courses, I think the only big name missing is Sunningdale which I must sort soon. I have to say West Hill holds it's own amongst that lot.

I'm competitive which is one reason for choosing West Hill and look forward to playing as many competitions as time allows, I'm also very much available for any matches against other clubs next year."

On Sunday, I played with new members Alex Paramor and James Elliot and with James Willacy who has been a member for about 3 years. Alex joins us from Wentworth and James E was previously a golf student at Merrist Wood College. Alex and James E both play off 3 and will be additions to strengthen our scratch team whilst James W hit the ball fantastically off 7 handicap and pitched a 9 iron over the 9th green!!!

Here is a message from James Willacy:

"I joined West Hill three summers ago but haven't played enough competitions nor met many long standing members. This is something I plan to change and Sunday's game with Guy has reinforced this. I adore the course and love the challenge it presents, it's also absolutely beautiful. My handicap is 7 and has been 6 in the past - although I certainly need to be playing regularly to play to my handicap around West Hill! I learnt my golf in South Devon at Bigbury Golf Club, I'm still a member and the club is very close to my heart - my grandfather founded the club and my father has been a member since 1946. I was at university in St Andrews and played a lot of golf (mostly socially) there and also caddied on the Old Course for three summers. Certainly looking forward to getting more involved with the club and setting up some regular games".

Last Saturday, new members Andy Elliott, James Elliot, Chris Smith, Stephen Thwaites, Ben Turner and Keith Stanley pitched up for a new members roll up organised by Derek Plumstead. The winner was 3 handicapper, James Elliot. As we all know one of the fantastic elements of West Hill is our very open and friendly membership so please take note of all the names and faces below and invite them to join you for friendly games.

THE NEW TAYLORMADE RSi IRON ARRIVED TODAY

Forged and Tungsten Technology Meets Face Slots

Even great golfers have mis-hits. It's part of the game. TaylorMade studies show that 76% of shots hit by golfers are mis-hits. So the Taylormade engineers set out to design the ultimate iron to help golfers have better mis-hits.

THE DESIRED RESULTS

To hit more greens, and shoot lower scores because your misses are better.

RSi Irons are the first irons ever to Feature FaceSlot Technology which provides uniform flexion across the face, keeping the ball speed up and generating more consistent distance on off-center hits. Face Slot Technology is featured in the 3-8 iron with the two slots located near the heel & toe of the clubface. At address, the irons look striking and give golfers ultimate confidence.

If you would like to book a fitting with the new RSi irons click here, or call the pro shop on 01483 473172.

Our promise to you, any order placed between 14th November & 19thDecember will be here in 5 working days from point of ordering. If not we will give you 25% off.

Check out the video below

TaylorMade Rsi

Research suggests 76% of all golf shots are mis-hits, so we welcome technology that can help any loose ones less damaging and, therefore, lower our scores. In this video we speak to TaylorMade’s Executive Vice President, Sean Toulon, who explains how its Speed Pocket will help improve performance on shots that don’t come off the centre of the clubface… and we all hit a few of those!
