As I write this on Tuesday evening I have won the first two rounds of The Sunningdale Foursomes with Stephen Ross. In round 1 we came back from 3 down with 4 to play on the New Course, finishing with four pars and a birdie before winning on the 19th with a par 4 at the first. Then in the afternoon we beat two time past winners of the event Craig Cowper and Neil Reilly.
Many thanks to West Hill members Kaj Abrahamsen, Karen Duncan, Jenny Ross, Tom Wall, Paul Baldwin and Dennis Montague who were all at Sunningdale supporting us. If we can win our third round match on Wednesday afternoon then we are likely to face Barry Lane and Gary Wolstenholme in round 4 on Thursday morning - one shot at a time though !

Peter Yearsley had a full set re-gripped while he was practising for a few hours on Sunday. He is looking forward to getting back on the course now the wet weather is behind us. Come and see us if you would like us to check your grips and equipment in readiness for the season

In the weekday Stableford on Friday Kamran Etebar (our new semi professional at the club) continued his great run of form with 39 points for victory. All that practice is paying off Kamran, well done. 2nd was George Cassie(9) 38 points and 3rd David J Mills(10) with 36 points
In division 2 Douglas Roach(13) who has been fine tuning his game with me in the Guildford Alliance won with 38 points. 2nd was Andrew Smith(15) with 37 points and 3rd Nigel Sillick(13) on countback.
Congratulations to Stuart Bosley who won the Seniors Spring Stableford on Monday with 36 points - and yes you guessed it he has had a swing and a putting coaching session in the last couple of weeks!!!!
Second was Robin Jackman with 35 points with Richard Owen third,on countback.
Our new Ladies' Captain, Gloria Foxhall, kept her amazing run of form going with victory in the Easter Mixed Plate scoring 37 points with David Stallan - very well done
A great result for our club scratch team with victory over Oxford University last Sunday - a brilliant coup by match manager Tom Passmore to get quite a mature team to prevail culminating in Richard Wheatley coming in with the winning point from a dark and wet 18th shortly before 6 pm . I'm sure all West Hill members would like to join me in wishing Tom and Ann Passmore good luck for their business move to Hong Kong in the next couple of weeks. We wish them success and hope to see them soon.
Members Mark Randall, Tom Keelan, Nick Cobb, Billy Sutcliffe, Bill Colvin, Kevin Young, Kevin Parrington and Mike Graves have just enjoyed a fantastic golfing tour to Thailand - looks like Tom Keelan was the man in form although I have received no details to date, maybe it is best kept that way!
Did someone tell our new Ladies' Captain that part of the job description was to win every week? This week Gloria Foxhall romped home by 5 clear points in a 5 club competition with 35 points over 16 holes. Second was Hilary Ashton with 30 points with Diana Marchant third on countback. Then at the weekend , you guessed it, Gloria won with a fantastic 40 points and was cut to 27. Second was Julie Wilding with 37 points and third Kay Bowman with 34 points.
