Callaway MAVRIK has landed
As we are a Callaway Custom Fitting account, we have just received our entire fitting and demo kit of Callaway MAVRIK drivers, fairways, hybrids and irons, two weeks before the worldwide launch. As with the new TaylorMade clubs last week, you can try them at West Hill before anyone in the world can buy them.

Consistency brings results
Ed Middleton has been improving his swing with me for just a few weeks, looking for more consistency. After just three sessions, he won the Stableford last Saturday with 40 points; well done Ed.
|
In the second photo, you can see that Ed's head has swayed to the left from its original set up position so his spine is very angled. From here, he had then tilted back to the left to finish his backswing, causing a reverse pivot with too much weight on his left leg.
In the first photo, he now keeps his head more central allowing him to rotate around a fixed point. This results in better weight transfer in the backswing into his right side, allowing him to unwind powerfully from the legs.
One simple improvement….40 big points. |

Meet the Members
Last Thursday, I had a great I introductory game with two new members, Llewellyn and Chris. See their intros below and feel free to invite them for a game.
|
| Llewelyn Cadman-Davies, The Pro and Chris Molden |
Here is an introduction from Chris Molden:
“My name is Christopher Molden, I’m a 56-year-old former oil trader who’s been retired for seven years. I have a long-suffering wife, Antonia, and two children, Laura and Christian, who have both flown the coup. My relationship with golf is very much a love/hate one but as the expression goes, “it’s very difficult to get enough of something that ALMOST works”. I persevere! Outside of golf I very much enjoy Tennis, Squash, Skiing and Fly fishing but have the same tenuous grip on them as my golf swing”
Here is an intro from Llewelyn Cadman-Davies
"My name is Llywelyn Cadman-Davies, 32-year-old former rugby player turned Pharmacologist. Born not far from Porthcawl, to a golfing father, my journey to golf has been a late one. After a serious injury forced me to abandon grandiose ideas of playing for Wales, I was left with nothing to do on the weekends, much to the chagrin of my other half. After three years of urban golf based out of Canary Wharf and Croydon, I’ve taken the plunge to play some proper golf at West Hill. This club is incredibly friendly and inclusive, and a serious test on my golf. I’m always keen for a bit of banter, a beer, watching sport and having a laugh with mates. I look forward to meeting more of the fantastic members during my time here and getting involved in the buzz of the clubhouse."

Men v Juniors Match Report from Junior Organiser, Alistair Wooster |
"The annual match between the Juniors and Men took place on a bright and relatively dry day before Christmas. Enjoying the break from the rain, the match saw five pairs from each side play a Greensomes matchplay format with the men securing a strong victory under the inspired leadership of The Captain by 5-0. The result pleased the Captain no-end following his beloved Leeds recent defeat at Fulham which, despite attending the match, he managed to miss most of the second half on account of being seated in the wrong end.
The Juniors were represented by: - Olly Wooster (Captain) - Oisin Willis - Freddy Wooster - Ellen Yates - Lotti Woodham - Nathan Woodham - Jaya Wilkinson - Will Hewett - Joe Gould - Tommy Noel" |
Captain/Pro Challenge
On Sunday, we played our 7th Captain & Pro Challenge against Adam Salazar and Dominic Ellis. It was a very tight game up to the hut but then we managed to pull away ending with a 5UP win. So, played 7, WON 3, HALVED 2, and LOST 2. Click here if you would like to challenge us on: - Sunday, 9 February: 8.56am - Sunday, 23 February: 8.56am - Friday, 28 February: 12.00pm

It’s safe to say that the technology embedded into today’s clubs has helped us hit the ball further without swinging any harder. For some that might mean hitting the ball as far as we did before the effects of ageing started to take place, whereas for others it means booming drives 300+ yards and reaching par-5s in two. |
Just imagine... If you hit every club in your bag five to ten yards further, your tee shots will be longer and you'll have less distance remaining to the green. So, rather than standing there with a 6-iron you might now have an 8-iron in your hand, which gives you a much better chance of hitting it close.
|
We can help you! This can be the reality for a lot of club golfers today, but only if you make sure your clubs are right for your swing. With lots of new products hitting the shelves in the coming weeks, now's the perfect time to try out a few different options and see if we can make a difference to your game. |
