Coaching success
So many members making fantastic improvements this week that I couldn’t decide which one was best.
|
Sarah Langlands was struggling to get out of bunkers consistently. Many people make the same mistake of consciously trying to hit the sand before the ball. We simply got her to use her legs to do the unwinding which felt as if the strike was beyond the ball. look at the massive improvement in the left picture.

Lots of golfers who wear glasses slip into the habit of staring down at the ball so that they can see the ball out of the middle of their lenses without seeing the frames. After pointing this out to John Neilson, and then giving him a pre-shot routine for his posture, look at the massively improved position which allows him to now turn his body more freely. | | John Neilson click image to enlarge

|
Up until this week, Gwyn Davies coaching had been focussed around him developing a more powerful backswing. This week, we are now starting to reap the rewards of a more consistent strike with more power. Look how his weight is now much more over his left leg through impact enabling him to clip the ground after the ball instead of before it.

Custom Fitting Wow, look at these numbers (see below). With Craig Kimber’s old PING i200 he achieved 127.7 yards carry from 75.1 mph clubhead speed.
With the new Taylor Made SIM with almost identical clubhead speed of 74.8mph, the new technology increased his ball speed by 5.1mph to 99.6mph giving him 142 yards carry - a near 15-yard gain with the same swing. Pearson Trophy Report from Team Captain, Jane Kimber
The West Hill Pearson Team played away against Royal Mid Surrey last week and the team won five out of the seven matches. Well done to Janet Lea, Heather Thwaites, Liz Hooper, Helen Simmonds, Tina Thomas, Val Owen and Shirley Couzens.
We have now played all six of our first-round matches and have won five and lost only one. This means we have won in our group and will now go through to the first knockout round, which has to be played between Monday, 9 March and Friday, 10 April. I have been advised that it is 99% certain that we will have to play against Camberley Heath (home and away) TBC as they have one more match to play.
Many thanks to all of you that have played in the previous matches and all of you that have offered to be a reserve. And thanks to Jane in the office for organising the tee times at short notice and the delicious match teas.
