The latest update One thing that hasn’t changed is my countdown to the clocks going forward! In just 10 days’ time, we will be able to enjoy some beautiful Spring evenings at West Hill. As you have read from the Secretary, your Board has made West Hill as safe as it can possibly be and exclusively for members only. You can turn up, enjoy our beautiful course and enjoy the fresh air and exercise making sure you stay a safe distance from your golfing partners and don’t touch the pin. The Pro Shop will remain open and fully staffed to control the tee, and to look after all of your golfing needs, and to ensure you can continue to enjoy your golf, as well as to coach and to custom fit. All we ask is that you respect the staff by abiding by the two-metre rule.
Obviously, with no visitors, green fees or competitions this is going to be a tough time for us. All I ask is that you give us an opportunity to quote for your business. We operate a Price Match Promise delivering unbeatable value so please always let us know if you’ve seen something cheaper elsewhere - we’d like to know if we are not competitive and as members of Foremost, we know that we can be competitive with everyone.

As cash flow is going to be extremely difficult for the foreseeable future can I also ask that members ensure their pro shop accounts are not in debit balance. We set up GoCardless three years ago and asked all members to sign up to this so that you can take goods freely from the shop at any time, knowing that if you go overdrawn we will simply email you a statement at the end of the month and Direct Debit the balance 10 business days later - however to date only 50 members have signed up. - We are also definitely open for coaching and club fitting
- We have reviewed the guidelines to coach safely with the following parameters
- we can put a hitting mat in front of the Swing Studio so you are out in the fresh air
- we will remain 2 metres away from you with no contact
- we will show you video images of your swing on the big tv screen to avoid close contact
- you can arrange to go straight from the car park to the range if you wish
For those of you who are working from home or have spare time on your hands, and with no competitions for the foreseeable future, this could be a fantastic opportunity to have some coaching and make some improvements to your game or to relook at whether your equipment is suited to you.

Huge improvements for Sylvia
After Sylvia’s last coaching session, she has been striking the ball much more consistently but was still looking to improve consistency of direction. In the left-hand picture, you can see her hands are further behind her head and she had lifted her arms and shoulders into this position.
We simply asked her to feel a slight change in grip pressure points in her right hand which enable her to hinge her wrists underneath the club more freely in the backswing (see the second picture). This one simple thing gave her a much more compact and tighter coil in the backswing and she was immediately able to unwind more consistently through the ball. |

Here is a report from Kevin Barkham about his custom iron fitting with Greg in the Swing Studio.
"Over the last few months, I had come to realise that I was losing significant distance with my 10-year-old irons so decided to bite the bullet and get new clubs. So, I arranged a club fitting with Greg, who had done my previous fitting when I purchased my hybrids and 3-wood a few years back. On a dull March Saturday, we tried out various irons such as the Titleist T200, TaylorMade P790 and the Callaway Apex irons, all with various shafts, all with the assistance of the FlightScope. After an hour, the Callaway Apex irons came out on top. They arrived a week later, and I was quickly able to recover £7 of my investment from Guy, as the new irons produced 3 birdies in our 2/1 win over Guy and his partner" Kevin

Welcome Ian and Patrick
On Sunday, I played a friendly fourball with new members Ian Livingstone and Patrick Kiely and we were joined by Kevin Barkham playing his first round with his new custom-fitted Calloway Apex irons.
Unfortunately for Ian and myself, Kevin hit them brilliantly and he and Patrick defeated us 2&1 in a great game. |

Here is an intro from Patrick Kelly:
"I joined in July last year having been introduced by my neighbour Dave Andrews. I currently work in the IT industry and live in Cranleigh with my wife, Belinda, and our 3 sons (including twins) aged 22 and 18. We previously owned and operated Gatton Manor Hotel and Golf Club from 2005 - 2011. A promising young professional (Guy Shoesmith) played there in a number of professional events. I am also a big London Irish rugby fan and am looking forward to their return to West London and the new Brentford Stadium in September (subject to viruses). I currently play off 19 and am looking forward to playing a lot more golf in the coming years. Patrick Kiely

Bedser Foursomes
Congratulations to Chris Barber and Alastair McQuater who won the Bedser Foursomes with 39 points. Second were Paul Prentice and John Sawford with 37 points and third went to Alistair Campbell and Justin Jones with 36 points.

On the Course
Well done to Kathryn McKimmie and Ellen Yates who won the Monte Carlo on Sunday by an amazing 13 clear points with 66. Second were Ruth Standring and Marjory Horsman with 53 points. Congratulations to Ruth Standring who won the 5 Clubs, plus a putter competition last Wednesday with 36 points. Second was new member Christine Thompson with 33 points pipping Sian Thomas on countback.
