The Swing Studio may open this weekend for the first coaching session. I would like to invite members to come down to The Swing Studio official opening next Saturday 7 February immediately after the prize giving of the Shotgun Fourball Better Ball. THERE WILL BE A FREE BEER OR COFFEE WAITING FOR YOU and the chance to win a special prize if you participate. I look forward to greeting many of you on the day.
As you can see the hard work is continuing as I clear all the rubbish and packaging from all the new equipment that is arriving for the Swing Studio!
New Technology
Last week I mentioned that we will have all the latest technology from Titleist, Mizuno, Taylor Made, Adams and Tour Edge for you to try in the new Swing Studio. This week I am going to start by telling you about the new Titleist 915 Driver.
Titleist only bring out a new driver every 2 years so their R & D department has lots of time to go hard to work.
MORE DISTANCE THROUGH HIGHER SPEED AND LOWER SPIN Active Recoil Channel (ARC). The wide sole channel delivers more distance by actively flexing at impact to launch the ball off the face with higher speed and lower spin. Clubs without ARC technology have a rigid sole and deflect more in the crown at impact leading to higher spin.
This club is available in a D2 head which is 460cc and provides a higher launch with low spin or the D3 head which is 440cc and creates lower launch with even lower spin. Plus you can try different shafts in each head too.
PRECISION FIT
SureFit ® Tour Hosel. Sixteen unique loft and lie combinations deliver the most precise fit available. The adjustable hosel means that we can tweak this driver at your fitting to change it from open to closed or adjust the loft to best suit your swing.
Can you afford to not try this club out on our Flightscope in the new Swing Studio?
Click here to book an appointment. Wood fittings are now £30, however, this amount is fully refunded when you make a purchase of the club.
I need one more member to make up a team of three for the Three W's Pro/Am and Surrey PGA Annual Awards Dinner on Monday 23 February, 12.00 shotgun. Click here if you can play.
Is anyone free to stand in on Sunday morning to play a Captain/Pro challenge with Mark Turner at 9.06am? Click here if you can make it.
If you would like a partner for the Shotgun 4BBB next Saturday please click here.
The club stableford last Sunday was won by Toddy with an amazing 43 points. He has obviously been studying the course carefully whilst out there cutting the turf around all the sprinkler heads to help out the green keeping staff!! Second in Division 2 was Andrew McNaught with 40pts and third Daniel McDonagh with 39pts. Division 1 was won by Phil Edwards with 41pts, second was Jonathan Hewett with 40 pts and third George Fergusson with 39pts. I hope Georges' good score was down to a tip I gave him after our Captain/ Pro challenge on Friday!
We had an excellent steak and claret lunch and then before we knew it George and Brian were 3 up. However, we rallied at the death to hole a 3 foot putt on the last green to win 1up. Then on Tuesday we were challenged, as is tradition, by the two immediate Past Captains, David Harrison and Philip Wiper. We made the mistake of birdieing the first hole because we were never ahead again as we suffered a defeat of 3 down. (The Captain holed a pressure 3 footer at the last for a halved hole to prevent the IPCs from matching the largest win of the year over the Captain/Pro which is 4 up from Peter Oakes and Jimmy Sweetzer.
Here is a report from Brian Terry:
'The Captain invited the ladies to join the regular Captain's Roll-up on Wednesday, 28th January. Despite the typical winter conditions the scoring in the two, separate competitions was impressive with the ladies' average score being 30.1 and the men's 33.6. The golf was followed by an excellent lunch at which Brenden offered a choice of leg of lamb, rib eye steak or salmon plus the usual quality wines.
The ladies' competition was won by Hilary Ashton with 39 points, Liz Hooper was second with 37 points and Ilsa Bellion third on 35 points. The men's competition was equally competitive and Chris Barber ran out the winner on 37 points (in only his third appearance in the competition since recently joining the Club with his wife Lynn), then, on 36 points, were John Todd, Mike Phillips, and George Ferguson who were separated only after a count back. There were cash prizes for the top positions and all of the winners generously donated their winnings to the Captains' charity.
The next Captain's Roll-up is on 25th February. Details are on the web and the notice board and the Captain would like as many men as possible to join him and the regulars in this very enjoyable competition.'
Well done to Claudia Johnson who won last week's weekday stableford with 32pts. Second was Ilsa Bellion on countback with Sylvia Sands 3rd with 31 pts.
