Last Saturday 28 members had great fun as they joined me for free drinks at the official opening of The West Hill Swing Studio. The Captain, Mark Turner, Rob Pike, Kamran Etebar, Peter Taylor, Neil Blick, Adrian Cotton , Alex Forbes, John Todd, Dave Roberts, Jon Yates, Ellen Yates, Alan Arscott, Derek Plumstead, Ramin Showghi, Greg Mackay, Chris Barber, Andrew McNaught, Philip Harrison, Rod Curry, Mike Coulson, Daryl Ware, George Fergusson, Alistair Campbell, Gerry Kennedy, Ron Simpson, Andy Tyler and Jamie Willis.

We had a fun nearest the pin competition on the Flightscope simulator with everyone having one shot to a target 150 yards away with the pressure of being surrounded by the gallery. Rob Pike was leading for a while with a shot 18 feet from the pin until Dave Roberts sneaked in with a shot 17 feet from the pin. He won a Gapping Session in the Swing Studio worth £30 where he hits shots all the way through his bag and we use the information provided by the FLIGHTSCOPE simulator to fill out a bag tag giving him his exact yardages for every club in the bag.

As you can see from the photos we can use the Swing Studio both as an indoor teaching room using the Flightscope Simulator and video coaching software, or when the practice ground opens we can lift the shutter and hit shots out onto the range. This means we will also be able to provide the added service of coaching or custom fitting after dark in the week.

"Having been inconsistent with my iron striking I went to try out the more forgiving TaylorMade Rsi range last Friday. The technology is amazing. Straightaway we could see real variation in distance, spin rate, and the wonderfully-titled smash factor, with my current irons, but a lot more consistency with the Rsi2 irons, which were a bit more user-friendly than the TP version for me personally. The added bonus was the picture on the screen wasn't of any of the actual fairways at West Hill, so I could actually hit them!"

Congratulations to Jonathan Hewett and John Sawford who won the 4BBB Shotgun Stableford on Saturday with a fantastic score of 44 points - and that was with 1 point at the fifth! Second were Tim Cleminson and Merfyn Roberts and third Howard Ashton and Tim Osborn - all with 44 points on countback!!
