With only 2 weeks until the Spring Equinox, 3 weeks until the clocks go forward (when there will be daylight until 7.45pm) and 5 weeks until the Masters, it is definitely time to start getting your games in shape for the season!!!
Another week of activity in the Swing Studio with John Watts, Tim Kenefick and Howard Ashton all benefitting from club fitting technology helping them to find either more distance or, even more importantly, a more consistent strike.
John Watts loved the feel of the forged iron combined with the forgiveness and launch of the Mizuno MP H5 head with the XP105 steel shaft whilst Howard Ashton was hitting the new Titleist 915 fairway wood and hybrid much more solidly and consistently than his old clubs.
Here is what Tim Kenefick had to say:
"I booked a session with Guy in the swing studio partly because I wanted to try out the new technology Guy has installed, and partly to see whether a change of clubs could improve my consistency and reduce the card-wrecking potential of my mishits. The Flightscope technology was really impressive, with the ability to measure just about anything you could ever want to know (or not know) about your swing, and test different club-head and shaft combinations against each other - without even having to open the doors and see quite how bad the mishits look in real life! I would highly recommend to anyone interested in changing clubs or just getting a better idea of how they hit their existing clubs. As for the result... I picked up my new TaylorMade RSi 1 irons yesterday and so far have only hit them in the dark. So far, so good - I haven't seen a single mishit yet..."
Remember, to kick-start the opening of our new swing studio, we are offering half price fittings for the month of March on any weekday. Remember we can now offer evening fittings after dark too, but spaces are limited so make sure you book now!
If you purchase equipment following a fitting then the fitting charge is deducted from the cost of the clubs, so why not click here now to book your spot.
Next week Cliff Gough and I are competing together in the Sunningdale Foursomes. Our first round match is at 9am Tuesday on the New Course if you are over there and would like to cheer us on or maybe even caddy!!! If we win through we might play Laura Davies and Barry Lane in round 3 ( John Scurlock-Davies is caddying for Laura in the tournament).
The SURREY PGA Three W'S Pro/Am and Annual Awards Dinner had to be postponed as Woking and Worplesdon GC's were unable to hold the event due to waterlogged courses. We have rescheduled for Monday 30 March and the SURREY PGA has to make this work as we are committed to Epsom Downs Racecourse for the dinner. We will be playing the golf at West Surrey GC, Cuddington GC and one other venue TBC (West Surrey was in awesome condition when I played there 3 weeks ago.) I hope those who entered first time round are able to join us and any other members who would now like to join in - the more the better. Please put the date in your diary if you can and more details to follow.
Well done to Merfyn Roberts who won the weekday Stableford on Monday with 40 points. Second in Division 2 was Tony Heather with 33 points and third Alan Thorniley with 29 points. Michael Watts won Division 1 with 35 points beating his father, John, on countback! Third with 31 points was Alastair Somerville.
Here is a report from Brian Terry:
"Despite the fact that the February Captain's Roll-up was played on so many temporary greens the players with the four best cards each scored 37 points. After count back it was decided that John Gilkes was first, Tony Wall was second, Ian Edwards third and George Fergusson fourth. As a result there are three competitors with six eclectic points and three with five after four of the twelve events during the Captain's year.'
We now have some more Captain Pro challenge dates available. Click here to challenge us on:
