West Hill Swing Studio News
I love to see effort come to fruition. Ben Whalley has put a lot of time into developing his technique with me over the last couple of years and now look how powerfully coiled he is looking at the top of his backswing.
We can't all achieve powerful positions like this but we can all enjoy improving different aspects of our game. If you try and stay still you go backwards. Last Friday I played Trump International just outside Aberdeen with Alan Arscott. It is probably the most dramatic links course I have ever played. Cut through massive sand dunes with tees perched high on top giving panoramic views it made some other top links courses look like pussy cats in comparison - and it wasn't even wet and windy!! This week Mark Randall's tour of West Hill members are also there - they are also playing Cruden Bay, Royal Aberdeen and Westhill Golf Club.
Yesterday Rob Pike and I represented West Hill in The Lombard National Pro/Am Regional Qualifier at Walton Heath. Rob hit the ball fantastically and on a windy day we were -2 through 12 having not converted our chances. However, my driving let me down on the easier par 5 finishing holes and we finished middle of the field with level par with The Wildernesses Club shooting an amazing 9 under par better ball to win.
Well done to James Connor who won the RN & RM Challenge Cup with a net 70 just four days after becoming eligible to enter having moved from the junior to the men's section!!!! Andrew McNaught won division 2 with a net 71, with Merfyn Roberts second with net 74 and Kevin Parrington third with net 75.
