Congratulations to John Watts, who has accepted the invitation of the Past Captains to become the Club Captain in 2015/16. I'm sure you will all join me in wishing him a very successful year.
Congratulations to green keeper Sam Sweetzer who has made it through to the final of The Toro Student Greenkeeper of The Year Award. The winner receives a three month work/study trip to a top course in America so fingers crossed for Sam!
Last Sunday I played in the Henley Golf Club Pro/Am and shot 68 (2 under par) my first time playing the course. Unfortunately I failed to birdie any of the four par 5's otherwise I should have been looking at the second win of the season!!!! This weekend I'm off to Spain on holiday so Greg will be writing the newsletter for the next two weeks.

West Hill Swing Studio News
Craig Kimber was struggling with holing out from 3 to 4 feet. His eyes had started to follow the ball through impact as he peeked to see if it was going in. This caused his shoulders to twist left across the line of the putt so the hands had also started to work independently to try and prevent this causing a jerky, disconnected stroke.
We simply worked on completing the follow through and holding the finish position for 3 seconds having kept the shoulders swinging through and the head still. The result was a smooth acceleration of the putter which swung straight down the target line and every putt started to drop. Dead simple and highly effective. Congratulations to Mike Putley who battled through the heavy rain last weekend to win the Willie Murray Cup (the 7 club medal) with a net 74. With four players on net 75 Daryl Ware was second on countback with Fergus Mooney third. On Monday James Connor won the weekday stableford with 37 points, Howard Ashton was second with 35 points and Andrew Dusek third on countback.
Here is a report from Terry Atkinson : West Hill v Granville:
'Both home and away matches took place during July this year beginning with the away match at Granville. The West Hill members enjoyed terrific hospitality but found the conditions challenging on the links with very windy conditions on day one. At the conclusion of the four ball and foursome matches we trailed by 5 points to 3. But with all to play for in the 7 seven singles matches on day 2 only Tom Keelan managed a win whilst Donald Legget sneaked a half so the final score was Granville 10½ to West Hill 4½.
The return match at West Hill started better with a 7-1 lead after the four balls and foursomes. This meant that the teams were tied in the overall standings going into the final round of 7 singles. In pouring rain, West Hill came out on top by 4½ to 2½ and thus were overall winners of the Terry Cup by 16 - 14. Thanks go to all who played in the matches: Neil Blick, John Todd, Donald Leggett, Philip Harrisson, Andrew McNaught, Tom Keelan, Kamran Etebar, Simon Legge, John Hughes and Terry Atkinson (captain) and for Granville Patrice Adam (President), Georges Ravenel, Didier Madourg, Daniel Née, Georges Guinnement, Claude Schmisser, Bernard Chaon and Daniel Crespy (captain). Friendships between the two clubs were strengthened and some new ones initiated. We all look forward to the matches next year which we hope to schedule in April at Granville and in the autumn at West Hill.'
Well done to Ladies' Captain, Cilla Shaw, who won the weekday medal with net 72. Second was Kathryn McKimmie with net 74 and third Chris Elliott with net 76. Then at the weekend Kathryn McKimmie went one better to win with 34 points. Second was Barbara Brooks with 32 points and third Rosemary Wallis with 29 points.
