A few weeks ago Ben Turner came to discuss his yardages with his wedges. He was carrying a standard Pitching wedge at 46 degrees and two Vokeys at 52 degrees and 58 degrees, which gave him between 20 & 25 yards gap on full shots.
Ben's wedges were standard length so we started by trying some that were longer than standard and we immediately saw a difference is consistency of strike.
We then looked at reducing the loft gap between clubs, by changing to 4 degree gaps we saw the yardage gap come down to an average of 13 yards.
Here is Ben collecting his new Vokey SM5 50 degree, 54 degree and 58 degree wedges. These are also an inch longer with mid- size grips to match the rest of his set. If you would like to discuss what's in your bag or to book an appointment, click here to contact Greg or call the shop.

Course maintenance has gone well. We managed to Verti drain all of our greens to a depth of around 13". We then Graden sand injection scarified all of the greens straight afterwards.
The reason for using both methods is 1- to get depth with the verti drain to help the moisture move through the soil profile. 2- the Graden removes a huge amount of thatch and at the same time sand and seed are dropped in the stilts made by the blades.
This will help the moisture move through the top section and into our drainage systems.
The greens are being top dressed today and then fertilized Friday which will help the greens to recover.
I'm hopeful the greens will be back to a good level in around two and a half weeks or hopefully even sooner.
Many thanks for your patience during our maintenance period.

During the Centenary Foursomes Rodney Bole's shot came to rest against the sign at the back of the 18th green, rather than taking a drop Matt Heather decides to lift out the post. The next thing his playing partners saw was a holy vision, Matt carrying the cross trying to redeem himself after an indifferent day on the course.
