Hello golfers,
The heather always goes into full bloom in mid August and it looks stunning as there is a sea of purple flowers in front of every tee. Make sure you put time in your diary to play West Hill over the next couple of weeks and enjoy the course when it's at its most beautiful.
On Sunday I took Doug Roach and John McKimmie to the Princes Pro/Am along with Walton Heath member, Neil Palmer. We had a fun day although unfortunately came home without prizes. Then on Monday I played in the Kent Open also at Princes. With 140 professionals playing and only 36 making the cut I shot gross 73 (+1) to miss the cut by one which included a 9 on the 12th hole. A par 5 would have given me a 69 and 5th place going into day two Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! Keep practising Guy. This Friday I am playing with the Captain in the PGA National Captain/Pro Fourball South of England Qualifier at The Addington so watch this space next week for results.
My daughter, Mollie, who will be 15 in December, is doing a one week work experience placement with school next Spring. She is completely open minded to ideas at present and I wondered if any members may be able to offer her a one week placement which she may be interested in taking?

Congratulations to Peter J Robinson and Alastair Somerville who won the Centenary Trophy Foursomes on Saturday with 37 points. Second were the Captain and Captain Elect, Andrew Smith and David Alvis with 35 points with Callum and Greg Mackay third on countback.
On Tuesday Ian Edwards, Alex Forbes, Barry Goss and Matt Heather played in the Camberley Heath Captain's Charity day representing JDRF, one of the Captain's two nominated charities for the year (Ian is the current chairman of JDRF). The day was organised by England's Barmy Army (the Captain's other charity) as part of their first ever UK tour to follow the Ashes series and raise money for the Lord's Taverners. The team had a great day - the Camberley Heath members and staff were very hospitable and the course was in great condition, having recently hosted a final qualifier for the British Seniors Open. The team finished in a five-way tie on 92 points in the team competition for the best two from four, but lost out on count back to finish just out of the prizes in fourth place. The big success of the day was Matt winning the individual competition with a great score of 43 points. Below left is Matt with the Camberley Heath captain - Mike Franzkowiak.
The Seniors and Ladies match was won by John Gilkes and Hilary Ashton (as seen in the picture above right) with 38 points. In second place were the Captain and Lady Captain with 37 points.
