Lots of news for you this week. Firstly I am very proud to say that Clifford has just accepted the position of Head Professional at Reigate Heath Golf Club. This is a 9 hole, heathland, private members club and he has done fantastically well to get this position. He will leave a big gap at West Hill ( and not just because he is 6'4'') and I especially will miss him. However, we are very pleased for him and wish him the very best of luck in his new venture. His last day is Friday 25 June and we are organising an informal roll up from 1.30pm on Thursday 24 June followed by Thai Green curry at 6.30pm in the Bedser Bar if you would like to join us for golf and /or curry to wish him good luck.

With temperatures already rising above 20 degrees now is the time to come and check out our fantastic new summer clothing range - you never know you might end up looking as dapper as Tim Osborn in his summer ensemble. And if you haven't treated yourself yet to a garment with our new exclusive "Members Only " logo then now is the time.
Patrick is taking lots of bookings from members who would like to compare their equipment against the latest technology on our new Flightscope, radar ball tracking device. Click here if you would like to see if you can improve performance with either driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons or wedges. Ian Edwards is also paying for a one hour analysis on the Flightscope with me so that we can work out his exact yardages through the air with every club in the bag. Click here if you would like to do this - very useful, especially if you are using a laser measuring device on the course.
We have a very handy new service for those of you who like to have the pin placements when you play. You can now download a free app on your phone called MyPinPoint Golfer. When you open it you just click on West Hill in the menu then click on West Hill at the bottom of the screen and you will be able to scroll through to look at every pin placement. So now you have the pins at your fingertips even with a 10th tee start without visiting the shop. You will also be able to use this service Free of Charge when playing at all the other clubs in the menu.
Congratulations to John Reynolds who won Division 2 of the club Stableford with 41 points on Saturday and Hallelujah he had just had a double whammy with us - in January he had a custom fitting for a new set of irons and then in February he had a whole day training day with me - 7 hours of coaching covering every aspect of the game including a playing lesson! Second was Greg Trigg with 39 points and third Ryan Brignull with 35 points. In Division 1, Brendan Dunne also had 41 points playing with his new Tour Edge Exotics driver. Second was Jonathan Yates with 38 points with Richard Wheatley third on countback.
Good luck to everyone competing in the Ferney Cup and Lombard National Pro/Am Qualifier this Sunday. The winner of the Lombard National Pro/Am Qualifier will play the PGA South Region qualifier with me in a 4 BBB at Kingswood on Thursday 26 June. The winning pair on this day progress to the GB final which is an all expenses trip to Gleneagles staying in the hotel on 2nd and 3rd September.
Last chance to buy Masters Sweepstake players this Sunday. You will be able to view which player/s you have drawn in next Thursday's newsletter.
Members have gone very shy on me recently - either that or you've gone off me as I had no takers for my most recent "play a Fourball with Guy date". Bill Colvin saw signs of the warmer weather on Monday as he took this picture of an adder on the 6th hole. He was also chief photographer as the Captain received the Trophy from Club President, Mike Westcott-White following the match v The RAF.
West Hill played the Royal Air Force Golfing Society (RAFGS) on 31 March in a 4BBB match. We won 3 ½ to 2 ½. This is our oldest established match going back to before WWII. The records of the precise start date are lost - the RAF's in a bombing raid in WWII and ours in the Club House fire of 1978. However, 1934 is the date often discussed as the most likely. For many years the West Hill side was organised and managed by past captain Wing Commander Jim Webster. After his untimely death in 2011 a trophy - the Wing Commander Jim Webster Salver - was introduced in his memory and is now awarded to the winning team
The photo shows our President Mike Westcott-White presenting the Wing Commander Jim Webster Salver to our Captain David Harrison after our victory. Also shown is the RAF GS match manager David Saady.
More news and photos about a members tour to Brittany next week.
Well done to Shirley Couzens who won last weeks medal with a net 74 in a very close competition, beating Sian Thomas and Julie Wilding on countback - and yes you guessed it - both Shirley and Julie were at my chipping and putting clinic the previous Saturday and improved their techniques tremendously.
Remember that New Year's Resolution to play more golf in 2014? There are lots of competitions coming up so sign up online.
