( Note - there is so much adjustability to the driver and fairway heads and choice of shafts in all the clubs that you would never work out the optimum set up for you without the use of our Flightscope radar ball tracking device measuring distance and spin rates in the Swing Studio). Come and have some fun and give it a whirl.
Ashley's TaylorMade M1 News
The M1 has received worldwide attention with its new carbon fibre crown, reducing head-weight and dramatically increasing swing speed averages, whilst still delivering accuracy through the developed sliding weight system used to optimise spin rates.
The new M1 driver has two separate models to choose from. The 460cc head and the 430cc driver head. Benefits from the slightly smaller 430cc head includes a deeper face design, resulting in a higher centre of gravity and lower spin rates. In short, this design promotes a flatter, low trajectory ball flight. However, 90% of TaylorMade tour players have opted for the 460cc which offers extra forgiveness and a higher ball flight trajectory, enabling them to control their driving distances more effectively.
This Driver has been so popular on tours that the majority of players opted to switch their current drivers in favour of the new M1 Model just days before the Barclays Championship and just hours after first testing it. Even Martin Kaymer changed from the SLDR and he's notoriously difficult to persuade!
Don't wait! We've got the new M1 model ready for your own personal fitting session so click here to book a session with Greg today!
Swing Studio News
New member, Simon Cavey, came for a full fitting for woods and irons. The stats he produced with the new TaylorMade M1 driver and 3 wood were incredible. With the driver he reduced backspin by 500rpm over the next best club, increased launch angle by 2 degrees and increased club head speed by 5mph - all of which gave his longest drives ever - and as someone who has only ever driven with a 3 wood it was also consistent enough to feel confident to put it out of the bag.
Then with the 3 wood he broke R&A limits!!! Smash factor is the ratio of conversion of club head speed into ball speed and the maximum it can be is 1.50 so that, for example, 100mph club head speed can convert into 150mph ball speed off the club face. Simon's Smash Factor with the M1 three wood was 1.52!!!!!
Look out for a picture of him picking up his awesome new weapons next week.
We now have 16 members coming to play our members away day to Open Championship venue, Royal St Georges, on Tuesday 1 December. Cost is £115 to include coffee and bacon rolls, 18 holes fourball with prizes for individual and fourball betterball, followed by the famous RSG 3 course lunch (or 4 courses if like me you sneak dessert and cheese and biscuits!!). Click here to join us - 16 places left!!
Congratulations to Mark Randall who defeated Simon Mead in the 36 hole Ferney Cup Final to achieve his goal of an individual win on a West Hill Honours Board - he gets a special award for 21 years of dedicated persistency! (And nothing to do with the fine tuning we have done to your swing over the last couple of years Mr Randall Sir!!)
Well done also to Mike Watts who defeated Alex Paramor on the final green of the 36 hole final to become the Club Scratch Matchplay Champion (Players having qualified for this event with a top 8 finish in the Gold Medal).
Well done to Karen & David Duncan who won the Spencer Cup mixed foursomes Matchplay defeating Sue Gorvin and Mike Coulson in the final. (Golfers worry about coaching making them worse which amazes me when both Karen and David have had swing coaching to hone their games in the last couple of weeks!)
Last Friday the Captain and Pro were challenged by Kamran Etebar and our new assistant professional, Ashley Dart. The Captain and Pro were 2 down through 6 but staged a strong comeback playing the remainder of the round very close to par for a 3 and 2 victory - well done Captain. Ashley would like to join members to play in friendly four balls on a Saturday. Click here if you would like him to join you.
Well done to Ilsa Bellion and Rosemary Wallis (who playing for the first time together) represented West Hill and finished 20th out of 40 at the England Golf Brenda King Senior Women's Foursomes at Coxmore Golf Club at Sutton-in-Ashfield GC in Nottinghamshire. This is a foursomes medal held over two days.
Well done to Janet Lea who won the weekend medal with a net 72 ( and said it was down to her swing coaching session a couple of weeks ago!!). Sian Thomas was second with net 74. Then on Wednesday Katheryn McKimmie won the medal playing with her new TaylorMade Rsi irons with Janet Lea in second place again!!!!
