Oakesy booked a performance driver fitting with me (Matt) to see if a new one could outperform his TaylorMade Qi10. We tested the brand new TaylorMade Qi4D, Callaway Quantum and Ping G440 K. Let's have a look at the results to see what was best for him!

Firstly, Oakesy hit his own driver, setting the baseline for what we wanted to improve on.

Carry Average 185, Peak carry 201, and a large direction dispersion with 50 yards between his left and right shots.

Our primary objective was greater distance, but I also wanted to find Oakesy a driver that also tightened his dispersion. Our testing of the other clubs began, making sure to get the correct loft and head design, giving the desired ball flight. Also looked at the way he swings to see what sort of shaft would work best for him. Oakesy also doesn't like it when the driver looks closed, so using the loft sleeves, I would adjust the setting so that the club did not look closed to Oakesy, giving him greater confidence. Now below are the numbers from the fitted clubs:

TaylorMade Qi4D, Average carry 194, peak carry 202, dispersion between 2 widest shots 27 yards.

PING G440 K, average carry 203, peak carry 210, dispersion 35 yards.

Quantum Max, average carry 196, peak carry 198, dispersion 35 yards.

What do you think Oakesy should choose?

As you can see, there are benefits from all 3, but the brand new PING G440 K was the definitive best for Oakesy! He gained distance with it but also became far straighter and improved his strike so much that his shortest carry with the Ping was 196 yards.

The PING is on order and we will check in with Oakesy 4 weeks after he has used it, just to check that the club is still working great for him.
